I love the fact that its controls are shit, when you get used to it you are invincible

I think I played it too quickly. The bosses at the start were fun, but got a bit bloated. I also thought the gameplay was miserable. Super slow and clunky. However, what brought me through was the presentation. The visuals and little music there is, is incredible. And the ending brought some context into what I was doing. For me this game is like death stranding. A game I enjoyed but would never even consider replaying

I think this game is an absolute master work. But i spent many many hours getting so mad at the controls and the camera and my freaking character not gripping the colossus right. Like I’m perfect straight, the colossus isn’t moving. Why is my guy slipping and falling like he’s on a roller coaster without a seatbelt

To me, it wasnt the story that blew me away. It was the world, vast beautiful landscape, that says ancient yet the emptiness you mentioned, makes it eerie at the same time. Beautiful and eerie together

Skill issue

Blue Point again proves to be the ultimate masters of creating remakes.

As far as a remake goes, this is probably the best way to go about it. I love that they upgraded the graphics and kept the gameplay and controls feeling just like the old game. As it stands, I can play the remake and not feel like there's something missing because Bluepoint knew what to change and what to keep the same. I can't say the same about the Spyro Reignited Trilogy (another older game that I grew up with) where the controls in the new game feel just slightly off. Visually, the Spyro remake is great, but the original game on the PS1 FEELS better - more precise. I can, however, appreciate that the controls on the SOTC remake would be very frustrating for new players coming to the game for the first time. I'm also biased because I grew up with SOTC as one of my all time favorite games.

After playing through this game for the first (and only) time, I totally agree with Dunkey's points. When the game actually works, and the controls decide to let you play, the game is phenomenal. And the score... my god, this score is one of the best. That sad music every time I killed a colossus always made me depressed and wonder why I was actually doing this. (except for a small handful of colossi that were complete assholes to deal with. But the actual gameplay... atrocious. I have never wanted to hurt another living creature more than I wanted to hurt the main character and his piece of shit horse. The horse feels ungodly stiff to control, and more than once fucked up my camera. And the main character just feels off somehow. I could go into more detail, but I'd rather not write an essay on a 5 year old video

It's so majestic, but the controls are super frustrating, some of the bosses just keep shaking and knocking you off, some of the key actions are hard to guess and the ending made no sense to me at all. Still, lots of epic moments which made it memorable.

Skill issue

The controls were way better in the remake though. Playing the ps4 version first and then going to the ps3 version is like night and day. Wander will just outright refuse to climb in some instances

Man, what we really need now is a PSVR2 port. I can't think of a better game to bring to VR. Its mechanics and sense of scale are just BEGGING for it.

The idea that your character was anchored to something by its hands while its body and legs could flop around where the physics led was amazing at the time. It was one of those points when a game had innovative physics, good gameplay, and an aesthetic that appealed to people without making non-gamers roll their eyes. Half life did it with fps games, and i think Shadow of the Colossus did it with third person exploration games. Nothing looked or played like it at the time.

This is imo the best game of all time (the ps4 version )

Story: i don't even need to say anything
The atmosphere: fucking insane
The gameplay: felt so fresh to me, nothing unnecessary was there
Camera: the only thing holding this game from becoming an absolute masterpiece
