You can't ignore the clear messaging about the violence that is wrought upon unwilling participants in the spectacle, namely animals. The consistent thread of the film that that animals are repeatedly commoditized and abused for sake of the spectacle being created.

I've straight up been told by MANY people that I shouldn't share my pain and grief and trauma with anyone but my therapist. Apparently it's called "trauma dumping", and who wants that? lol

I've been told "yOu MuSt Be fUn aT pArTiEs" (by people who've probably never been to a real party). For the record, I'm a DJ and I love to dance and I am most certainly one of the most fun people at parties, to the point that I'm often the first and last person still shaking it on the dance floor... I digress.

I really don't like people who try to redirect REAL conversations towards something cheerful just for the sake of it. It's actually far more depressing than when someone "spoils" a cheerful situation by spilling their guts about their childhood abuse or whatever... You name it.

If you are one of those people, you'll never be fun at parties. You'll just wear a fake smile and pretend to enjoy yourself for other people's approval, or numb yourself with booze and coke, while the reality of life seethes beneath the surface, corroding your heart and soul until all that toxicity consumes you and those closest to you....

It's a terrible, terrible movie. Just terrible.

So many fun tidbits. The fact that OJ never gets a real answer about buying his dad's horses back is chilling in hindsight! Peele did a great job with the evasion, it didn't have to be some movie trope, but rather a smooth slight of hand, Hollywood key jingling scene that also added to the stories.

I love that Lucky lives up to his name, and Jean Jacket is the horse that 'got away' from Em and she's the one who gets the most spectacular footage!

Something I noticed- the space shuttle poster in Jupe's museum room lists Columbia and Challenger first, both of which were destroyed and killed their crews while the world watched on TV.

What’s especially haunting is that we don’t really know if Ricky was the only one that survived Gordy’s massacre or not since the rest of the cast members are obscured. Which only makes the mention of an SNL skit being written even more disrespectful if you consider that the grieving families of the cast members AND potentially the scarred actors themselves would have to see their trauma being turned into a joke.

This film is very very special and close to me
I don’t think people have a clear idea how deep and ingrained the abuse the environment can produce, even in “good” productions

I don't think that shot of the shoe with a single drop of blood standing perfectly will ever leave my brain, when i watch it I was staring so intently at it, then I wondered why I was so captivated by a shoe until I realized I was waiting for the shoe to drop. A saying I'd heard so many times in my life was made literal, as I stared at this already horrific scene still waiting for the other shoe to drop
