For people struggling with their friend connecting. Connect the same way he did but they will use your IPv4 address from Hamachi and leave the port number the same (for me it was 27015). Make sure that in Hamachi you are both in a network together.

2) Is Hamachi safer to use than port forwarding?
3) How do we join the same Hamachi server and if we are in the same one, do I just load onto my server then they can join?
