I had failed the final high school exam of my country. Spent a few months deppressed, playing videogames in my pijamas and not leaving my room for days at a time except to go to the bathroom. Then I remember that a colleague I had when working at kfc in 11th grade told me he taught himself programming and got a job making 20k euros a month. So, I looked into it, watched a ton of videos, and came to the conclusion that it is possible, just extremely hard, even harder because I had no university degree.. or even high school diploma. I remember it pretty well, I was wearing shorts and a comfy t-shirt, something I rarely did because I had no need to change out of pijamas. I was stirring a tablespoon of sugar into non caffeinated mint tea while holding my phone sideways with the other hand, listening to Aaron Jack talk about the fastest way to become a developer in 20XX. At some point I just had enough of binging these videos, scared out of my mind about my future. I said "fuck it" out loud and committed. The following 2 years I had massive ups and downs and lefts and rights and everything in between, the last few months of it I was feeling like wanting to quit every day. It's been 2 months since I got the job, maybe 3 I'm not sure. It's hard don't get me wrong, but I did make it. Yesterday I became 21, so I actually learned and got a job faster than I would have finished university, which I couldn't afford anyway, and I'm also terrible in an academic enviroment. Thanks for listening to my story. Next I'm going to build a web application and sell it as a product to consumer, make 5 mil together with the sale of the company, put it all into a dividend ETF and spend a few years painting and enjoying life. Might even get a girlfriend.

My advice is to never give up! It will happen for you if you are willing to grow and learn! You have to want it more than anything in the world! To give your heart and soul to something that is bigger and greater than yourself! To put yourself in a very uncomfortable position so you have no choice to but be successful because the alternative is unthinkable! Even if it means leaving somebody you love because they don’t believe in you! Take the pain that is in the pit of your stomach and transmute it into positive action! Never settle! Never give up! For if you do settle like everyone else you will always be tormented by the agonizing demon of un fulfillment! I am proof you can come from nothing and do something great in life if you are willing to follow your dreams to the very end! Become a ghost and grind! It’s not about the money! Money is a consequence of when you do something great or you are great at something. Focus on bringing value to others and the wealth comes from the consequence. People appreciate when you solve their problems. And you are rewarded! So find a problem that people have that need to be solved and set out to solve it for them in the market place.

Sorry Earl, but what you don't mention is all the people who spent years working on inventions before their time, or people who were brilliant artists who were only acknowledged posthumously. This doesn't just happen in the arts either. There are tons of scientists and thinkers who died penniless and unknown. If you live in the USA, you are richer by far than most humans who have ever lived, even if you are considered poor. The quality of your life right now makes you a prince. Living a normal life in 21st century America is not a curse, its the greatest gift a member of the human species could ever have. We have hit the cosmic lottery. So if in the middle of this you decide you just want a balanced life, with a 401K and a family, you haven't chosen wrong. 99 out of 100 businesses fail in 10 years. And you think YOURS is special?
