It seems Chat gpt is really just geared towards people who are already experts in programming and spreadsheets etc…I wish we could have a tool that actually was about helping people with good ideas but don’t know all these other tools. It should at least be able to generate a spreadsheet for you so you have a basic visual experience to know what do do next.

I want to start my comment by saying I love Excel. I've used it inside and out and know so many little tools and tips inside my own workflow. I'll also mention I don't use macros at all as I don't know Visual Basic in any way (I wish I did because I'm sure my expertise would explode). Saying that as a little background for my comment, I will say everything I saw in this video IS LITERALLY BASIC AF. For him to even explain it in terms of an AI engine hurts my brain. Everything he showed with ChatGPT in this video I could show you another way in 30 seconds..... like...... for you to use for life. No copy and paste. No explanation needed from an AI engine. You could literally be intelligent enough to create a solution in less than 5 seconds once you saw the 30 second short.

I want you to understand ChatGPT is so powerful. But these examples...... wow..... not even the macro used what it can do! I can handle that with my minimal macro knowledge better with normal Excel frontend knowledge! Please don't utilize this video for what you need. Go learn Excel and the power it has within and dont use ChatGPT for this. It can help you with so many things but these simple things should be handled accordingly....... outside AI.

How are you getting ChatGPT to read the excel file?

Literally none of this is "automating Excel" nor is it surprising results -- it's basic functionality and basic formulas and if you put the same questions into Google you'd get the same answers. What a fucking waste of 11 minutes.

Chat gpt can definitely help with excel however when i gave it some exercises i had during my excel exam in college it made a few mistakes. Usually when it was about financial functions.

The tasks examples you are showing are actually easier to do yourself than to prompt. It's essentially a nice how to guide or help function supplement, but it's not really replacing/automatic the task as much as it is answering the question of how to do something that's in your mind, which you don't know how to build in excel. The crazier thing will be when AI can synthesize input data that is somewhat incongruous. i.e., I private companies financial statements that are not 100% standard year to year and/or has errors (e.g. the balance sheet figures do not balance, so it calls it out and inserts a line with a plug figure representing the delta)

in the last line of the Macro instructions, you should have written "Highlight these specific cells in orange : C16 - C18 ....". You must always clearly define what you want.
