ОтветитьWhat I don’t like about Bernstein is that he used to conduct Beethoven’s master pieces in a slow tempo :(
ОтветитьI was told as person grows older their ability to hear the high and low notes diminishes. So I am testing my new hearing aid on my Roku TV. (At age 78 soon to be 79.
Ответить👏👏👏
ОтветитьToo slow for my taste, the Bernstein NY version is just a tad quicker but it makes a big difference, IMO.
ОтветитьWow..just wow!
ОтветитьI'm trying to spot your father in the orchestra Wolfgang.. But I only met him once in 2009-10.. It's a fun game! 😂
Ответить2nd and 4th movements are deep in my heart. I appreciate 1 and 3 as well, but man, the others just speak at a different level.

ОтветитьLeonard had a habit, which I love, of slowing down the compositions he would conduct -- many times, from their original timing . . . to a tempo that would not only cause the piece to last longer ( thereby allowing you to 'soak' yourself more in the music ) but it would, often times, cause the composition to sound almost ENTIRELY DIFFERENT from how you might be used to hearing it performed.
Tempo is at the Conductor's discretion...so, any Conductor can do this -- but Bernstein REALLY, really loved classical music & he elected to do this with ALL of his major pieces -- so much so that they will sound quite different than you are used to hearing them performed by other orchestras nowadays. Conductors, today, have a habit of rushing, it seems.
But his love of music...you could pick up on it while listening to his conducting; it was slow; it was melodic; it was SEXY !!!. He absolutely adored music and he was in NO HURRY to sound like other Conductors sound or to have his orchestras perform the piece the same way that everyone else is already used to. . . . & it surely shows in the way that he almost made love to the music (I know that sounds, almost, crazy) by playing back or conducting his orchestras to slow the tempo, so the listener can luxuriate in the piece for longer. What an amazing artist this man, truly, was. What a legacy he left behind for all of us.
Anything better than this in music?
Ответитьthis immortal music cannot be described in words.
ОтветитьWhich orchestra is this??
This.... this.. is sexy!! I love it...

ОтветитьBeethoven wouldn't sound the same without Lenny.
ОтветитьThe best symphonic finale of all times.
ОтветитьThis symphony by Beethoven was a massive turning point in music, this proformence is unbelievable conductor and orchestra in total perfection, the second movement is very very powerful it should get more credit .
ОтветитьIf I'm not mistaken, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra is playing. I know the musicians, I saw everyone at Beethoven's fifth concert performed by Pollini and Karl Boehm in 1979
ОтветитьQue emoción verlo! Hace unos dias vi Maestro!❤

ОтветитьThe AD PLACEMENT is going to make me EXPLODE in a FIT of RAGE
ОтветитьLenny for ever.❤
ОтветитьINCREDIBILE
Ответитьlistening to this piece is always a magical moment
ОтветитьAn all male orchestra. Absolute perfection.
ОтветитьI think Reagan sidekick Bonzo could probably do the same thing with a baton in his hand.
ОтветитьLet's send this one proudly out to space. Beat this one Alpha Centauri!
ОтветитьI posted a new video explaining how Beethoven's loss of hearing made created a massive increase in his capacity to process variables between Symphony #2 and Symphony #3, making him the world's greatest composer
ОтветитьThere is Beethoven and then there is everyone else.
ОтветитьBernstein hammed it up as usual on the podium with wild baton gestures, leaps, knee bends and hip thrusts, while the musicians barely gave him a passing glance.
ОтветитьLenny really did bring the music to life ❤
ОтветитьThe band doesn't not need the waver
ОтветитьClassical music always helps my anxiety and depression issues when I'm feeling down. Especially since my mum passed away last year after a long illness.
ОтветитьI think that karajan was better at making opera recordings though. But bernsteins live film of beethovens fidellio is fantastic. That truly worked a treat .
ОтветитьI've only just recently brought the entire bernstein beethoven symphony set on ebay . Absolutely amazing . Karajan and bernstein clearly made the best classical films too. Both very diffrent . 😊😊
Ответить"Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far"
ОтветитьI much prefer Bernstein's more restrained interpretation.
