koreans r so simple-minded that they tend to see films as more of "a documentary" than a work of
fiction, and to regard an imaginary person represented in a creative work as a "a real-life figure".

to make matters worse, very few koreans try to verify whether some incident depicted in a film is
real or fictional by looking up historical documents concerning the issue.

for all these advanced weapons, or a legendary martialist, why was the joseon army
beaten to a pulp by japan so easily? .... the answer is very simple.
most likely, both efficiency of these weapons and military achievement of yi soon shin
are exaggerated far beyond truth by the koreans.

In the beginning of the Battle of Myeongnyang, Yi Sun-sin smashed each of the 133 Japanese ships with one large-scale ship for about two hours before the sea current changed.

Admiral Yi Sun-sin's victory in the naval battle cut off Japan's supply routes for combat supplies and was no longer able to advance to China.
Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the Japanese ruler, ordered Japan not to fight naval battles in Joseon, South Korea, as Japan continued to suffer heavy losses in naval battles.

Even if Admiral Yi Sun-sin returned to the lowest status
I respect Admiral Yi Sun-sin
With Admiral Yi Sun-sin's outstanding leadership and war command
I trusted Admiral Yi Sun-sin and followed him.
Admiral Yi Sun-sin
Honesty, excellent leadership, love for Korea's Joseon, and support from Korea's Joseon had to join forces with naval men to self-sufficiency in warships and food.
Admiral Yi Sun-sin was loved and respected by the people

The followings are honest impressions of actual states of Joseon troops by the generals
on both sides:

1. Li Ru-song 李如松 (Ming):
・”Both Joseon troops' weaponries and their combat proficiency are really terrible.
They don't have any proper swords, nor decent spears. Most of the soldiers merely arm themselves
with shoddy farm equipments, or else, stone axes. I really worry about that.”

・"Soldiers of WA fiercely shot their muskets first. And then, letting out a holler,
cavalry troopers with fiend-like faces and infantries armed with long spears made a dash for us.
At the time, however, 80 percent of Joseon soldiers had already ran away before a sound of gunshot ceased."

・"Joseon troopers concentrate on escaping from their enemy.
Therefore, we have no other choice but to leave only rear-guard duty to them."

2. Yi Sun-sin 李舜臣 (Joseon):
・"Our troops' state is really terrible, so my eyes are filled with tears."

・"When commanders of the WA troop made a dash wielding their huge swords, our soldier were really astonished, and ran about trying to escape jut like flowers in the spring day.
I can never leave for the battlefront under such a circumstance as this."

3. KONISHI Yukunaga 小西行長 (Japan):
・"The level of Joseon's regular military force is even lower than expected.
Seems like only poor peasants and women who hardly know battle were called up for military service."

・"Generals of Joseon army already fled from battle area, and were not there while his adjutants and soldiers were being killed."

4. KATO Kiyomasa 加藤清正 (Japan):
・"Even Joseon king himself abandoned his people and fled his country.
Then, I am not sure if his troopers really defend the castle and common people."

・"It is easier to cut off Joseon soldiers' head than depriving kids of their candy."

The Imjin War was a war that defeated Japan led by the Joseon Army and Navy.

Seoul was taken away in about 20 days, but it protected Jeolla Province in the granary area.
In the Battle of Ungchi and Ichi, the government forces defeated more than 10 times the enemy with 1,500 troops to defeat the invasion in the north of Jeolla Province.
In the Battle of Jinjuseong Fortress, 4,000 government troops defeated 30,000 Japanese troops to prevent invasion in the east of Jeolla-do.
The seven-year war was won by the constant supply of food and military supplies in Jeolla-do, a granary.

The recapture of Seoul was because the Joseon Army won the Battle of Haengjusanseong Fortress and continued its offensive against the Japanese military while burning all its food.
In the northeastern region of Hamgyeong-do, Joseon medical soldiers drove out the Japanese army.
Within a year of the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592, the Japanese army was deported to the southern coast and defended for six years.
Japanese troops deported to the southern coast mobilized 60,000 troops to eventually occupy Jinju Castle, but 40,000 people were killed because of the great damage. Therefore, even after winning the second battle of Jinjuseong Fortress, the Japanese military had no choice but to retreat.

Within a year of the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592, the Japanese army was deported to the southern coast and defended for six years.
During the Japanese Invasion of Korea, the Japanese army won the battle of Namwonseong Fortress, but Admiral Yi Sun-shin won greatly at sea and was forced to withdraw because the supply route was blocked again.

There were 108 battles during the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592, but the Ming Dynasty only won the Battle of Pyongyang Castle.
The reason why he was able to win the 4th Battle of Pyongyang Castle was that Admiral Yi Sun-shin won at sea and prevented military, military supplies, and aquaculture from going to Pyongyang Castle.
At the time of the Battle of Pyongyang Castle, the Japanese army was almost unable to fight due to hunger and cold.
In other battles, Ming troops were defeated in all battles against Japan. In the Imjin War, where a total of 108 battles were fought, the Ming Dynasty's only major was the Battle of Pyongyang Castle.

The Japanese invaded with more than 300,000 troops, more than 200,000 of whom were killed

You might think all Samurai would be down for a good war, especially an Korean invasion, but after looking up Kato Kiyomasa & Konishi Yukinaga it turns out they were against it. Konishi just stormed through the countryside because he wanted to capture the king & end the war quick... That movie 'Roaring Currents' makes it look like they were savage bloodthirsty guys that couldn't wait for a fight.

There was other, possible, reason for the Yukinaga and Kiyomasa antagonism: Yukinaga was a christian samurai while Kiyomasa had, in the past, persecuted christians in the past, in very brutal ways. While several of Hideyoshi retainers had friends among themselves, they also had a same amout of disdain and rivalry; even if by admiration, loyalty, or simple tradition, they served under Hideyoshi, it didn't mean they liked or worked well with each other; even more if it was because of them being followers of christianity, which Hideyoshi heavily surpressed (which was, funnily enough, the religion of his main strategist Kuroda Kanbei).

On a side note, when it comes to christians, Nobunaga, usually the seen as more vicious when compared to Hideyoshi and Ieyasu (with is highly debatable) actually treated the followers of christianity (and foreingers) with more respect anod/or tolearation than the other two (even if it was only to gain more favor in obtaining western goods, but I doubt was the only reason).

This video is proof that Korea should have nuclear weapons. South Korea's military power is considered fifth to sixth in the world, but without nuclear weapons, it is not enough to confront North Korea and China. Korea already completed laser uranium enrichment technology in the early 2000s. Plutonium is already available. Korea has many high-tech companies, including Samsung, Hyundai Motor, and LG. South Korean nuclear scientists say a year is enough to complete dozens of nuclear weapons if the country implements nuclear weapons development. In particular, considering the nuclear threats from North Korea and China, South Korea must have nuclear weapons.
