"In May 2022, Square Enix reached an agreement with Embracer Group to purchase the studio and other assets of Square Enix Europe.[18] During the announcement of this acquisition, it was revealed that Eidos had several projects in development, all using Unreal Engine 5.[19] On 20 May 2022, Embracer Group (before the acquisition was complete) expressed interest in sequels, remakes and remasters in established franchises of the studio such as Deus Ex and Thief.[20] The acquisition was completed on August 26, 2022, with the assets being held under CDE Entertainment."
"In June 2023, Embracer Group announced a large-scale restructuring program focused on cost savings, capital allocation, efficiency, and consolidation, which will include staff layoffs, studio closures or divestments, and game project cancellations or suspensions with immediate implementation into phases until March 2024.[74] This was due to a $2 billion deal falling through; according to Axios, this deal had been with the Savvy Games Group, but fell through at the last moment.[75] In the same month, Campfire Cabal was closed with all its employees being laid off, alongside Volition.[76][77] Embracer also called for a layoff of ten staff from Crystal Dynamics and 26 employees from Beamdog that month.[78][79] Embracer affirmed that by November 2023, they had lay off over 900 employees, roughly 5% of their workforce, and cancelled at least fifteen projects, as a result of this deal. Further, while Embracer had been able to restructure their debt from $2 to $1.5 billion, the company warned that further layoffs and studio closures were likely."
Yikes.
Deus Ex had a dip but it never fell. Mankind Divided is the best entry yet and to be completely transparent, I would rather see Deus Ex end with Mankind Divided than to see a woke garbage "modern audiences" trash entry.
Let it die while its good.
I loved invisible war
ОтветитьGot this game on sale for$4. I only regret buying it because of how deep I am in the story. What happened to Jensen! Where'd he get his extra augs!
ОтветитьThe original Deus Ex was one of the greatest games of all time. It's a shame the sequels had ZERO percent of the atmosphere, grit, story or gameplay of the original. Just thinking about it makes me want to play it again!
ОтветитьNow Embracer Group owns the franchise and they’ve been running everything they touch.
ОтветитьWarren Spector didnt really belive in VR gaming... :P but hell it would have been cool to play in VR
ОтветитьJust my view, but maybe DX:TF can be continued with some improvements (jumping, larger maps). That was a nice experience for me. The only let down in the series was DX:IW, I say.
Ответитьi feel MD had a much more written by committee feel which isnt what anybody wanted. the gaming industry as a whole has rapidly evolved as it has grown and this is just one of thousands of small but negative consequences imo
ОтветитьThe Rise and Fall.... and Rise of Deus Ex.
We are getting a new game.
Now, we have to wait
See ya in 2025
I'm glad to see 3Teeth get so far and get to work with legends like Mick Gordon. I remember when ya'll we're just starting and we're tye buzz on the old VF boards.
Keep making amazing music ya'll!! ❤
Human revolution was garbage compared to the original
ОтветитьI implore everyone to read Warren Spector's blog
ОтветитьAlso, someone is trying to wither make or port the first game to Unreal engine 5, which I think they already have a demo for
ОтветитьIt was put on hold, smh. And me checking every year just in case.
ОтветитьSquare Enix sold this franchise as well as Tomb Raider and Hitman to Embracer group and it has been confirmed in 2022 that they started working on a new Deus Ex game but it was early in development so might be a while
ОтветитьLove Adam jensen
ОтветитьI absolutely love the original Deus Ex and Deus Ex Human Revolution. I hope the series continues soon (with a studio that cares about the IP).
ОтветитьDeus Ex never fell. Is just shit games that were made by other shit game designers. Same goes with Thief. Original proper Thief games are still good today. I still play Deus Ex the original even now. I never play the shit new games.
ОтветитьAdam Jensen's story deserves closure.
Ответитьthe motiivation from this game was alex jones bitch
Ответить"Ultimate Underworld"? :P
ОтветитьBack in 2013, I had my first gaming computer and bought human revolution simply because the design looked cool. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but I absolutely loved it. In 2017, I had my first gaming laptop (as I was off to college that year, funny enough to the Czech Republic) and I was absolutely blown away by mankind divided, it looked amazing and I loved the game play/world. Now in 2023, I’ve started playing the original and my god even though the graphics are dated it’s hands down, without any doubts one of the best games I’ve ever played, it’s so though provoking and eerily relevant to today’s world.
I hope we’ll see another entry in the series, I think they do the cyber punk aesthetic so much better than CP2077.
I never really felt like MD was abruptly finished, as it concluded the storyline it started.
The bigger issue I think is the overreaching plot which was very subtle (and unnoticable to those who did not pay full attention) in HR was thrown into your face in MD, making it look like the conflict inside Illuminati was MD's plotline, when in truth it was the overreaching plot of both HR and MD, creating the field for the plot and setting of the originals.
Deus Ex 2 is better Than Cyberpunk 2077
ОтветитьWhatcha mean? I'm still playing them.
ОтветитьThey need a new deus ex like the blade runner vibe of invisible war. With 2023 technology they could do it . Going back at a 2070 deus ex post collapse post JC.
ОтветитьI love deus ex, i've played them all* up until mankind divided, it's strayed so far from what i loved, it needs to be let alone to die while the memory isn't completely destroyed. in short, they've fucked this franchise pretty hard.
Ответитьi wonder if Deus Ex could have been made in a chapter style like the first Half-Life games.
Deus Ex in a Blue Shift setting where you play as an police officer.
and Deus Ex in a Opposing forces setting where you play as a NSF soldier.
Invisible war wasn't as good as DX1 but its a great game in my opinion
ОтветитьEmbracer Group is currently in the planning stages of a new Deus Ex and a whole group of Edios Montreal IPs since their acquisition late last year. As a matter of fact they are currently working on a new Tomb Raider.
ОтветитьAbsolutely love this game, played the original, loved it, but human revolution blew me away! Went though some hard times and lost myself so many times in this game -playing over and over again, tried other games but always ended up back to base. Still trying to find a way to take out Megan! :) Mankind Divided is excellent but never quite captured my soul like HR did!
ОтветитьShame that marketing can screw up a release and then the publisher blames the game developers. Don't ever tie your game to a political movement.. HUGE mistake, and the wrong people got blamed for that. Add in some pre-order BS and you're pissing all kinds of people off for multiple reasons.
ОтветитьTHANK YOU FOR MENTIONING STRIFE
It tends to get overlooked as a true pioneer of FPSs with RPG like elements.
I bought MD on sale a couple years ago. Never installed it but I'm curently playing through HR again haha.
ОтветитьI want more Deus EX !!!
ОтветитьGod, I love the cyberpunk aesthetics.
ОтветитьThe first installment in the Deus Ex franchise is in desperate need of a remake.
ОтветитьIcarus WILL RISE AGAIN!
ОтветитьInvisible War had its good points, although I felt somewhat disappointed after the first playthrough. It was just too clunky, no expansive maps, the combat wasn't good, and it was heavily watered down when compared to the original: ammo became universal, Skills had been dropped, and Aug canisters were far more frequent so it didn't provide a challenge. There was still that unique atmosphere unique to DX, while it had a few good ideas. But the side missions were too easy and mostly on the boring side. HR was developed using a far better formulae, and the maps were far more elaborate; filled with all sorts of encounters and hidden caches, while the side missions were nice little stories in themselves, they felt truly integral to the DX world. MD's centralized hub based upon a futuristic Prague was a true masterpiece and felt alive. The sandbox style of maps of HR and MD are amongst some of the best in the RPG genre. And I loved the characters in the prequel titles as much as those within the original DX: Anna Navarre, Gunther Hermann, Joseph Manderley, Paul Denton....Sarif, Malik, Megan, Pritchard....
ОтветитьThank God they renamed it from 'Troubleshooter' to the far more cool and mysterious 'Deus Ex' - even though many fans probably mispronounced the phrase: 'Deuce Ex' instead of 'Dayooz Ex'! I'm also guilty of having done that. Troubleshooter sounds more like the title of a gameshow than a video game.
Ответитьto be honest I really do not get why they made adam for a prequel. the prequels feel super detached from the original. why make a whole new character when paul is right there? I wish paul was more fleshed out, to be honest. it would have been amazing to be able to play as the older denton brother...
ОтветитьThere is a lot more you can do with Adam. The game has become more about "him" and his story. They could merge old and new together and have Adam tag team with Denton. A lot of things are possible in theory. Whatever the case, I hope they don't give up on this series and keep going. Just make sure it doesn't turn out like Invisible War and you should be fine.
ОтветитьI remember when human revolution came it I was blown away and sucked into the story, I pre ordered MD the very first day pre orders opened and I’ll be honest although I hated how abruptly it ended I thought it was a great game. I’m sure we will get another game before this console generation is up and with the tech of these new consoles it would be nice to see a sequel on this generation of consoles just imagine what they could do with the physics and different augmentations and the gaming world would be spectacular.
I think if cyberpunk wouldn’t have been a cross gen game it would’ve been better suited as next gen only, let’s pray that Adam Jensen gets his story concluded.
The problem with Deus ex is it set its own bar so high if you fall short it’s seen as a failure, realistically there has not been a bad Deus Ex main game but fans will fall off if it’s not up to that high bar, personally Deus Ex and human revolution are both great games in their own right and both invisible war and mankind divided fell off in terms of sequels but those games aren’t bad games by any measure. My first Deus ex was invisible war and though it’s not as good as Deus ex isn’t a bad game.
