The Phantom of the Opera - Emmy Rossum, Gerard Butler | The Phantom of the Opera Soundtrack

I do like Gerard's Butler singing voice... just not for the role of the Phantom of the Opera. Were this a rock opera or something (and I would pay good money to see POTO as a rock opera), he'd have been pretty good, but his voice seems out of place with everyone else's.

Well, it was raised a half step or so. Emmy hits an Eb in the movie, thanks to the shortened version not going up another key; in the musical, it's E, which was the case here.

i completely agree. The most important aspect of the Phantom is his eyes since they are responsible for bringing that emotion and power within the phantom and Gerard Butler HIMSELF possesses that. I am so glad Hugh Jackman was unable to play in this movie!!

I don't have a problem with Emmy, but yeah, Gerard's voice is pretty bad and he's way too attractive. Yeah, ALW made a bad castingdecision. Not uncommon. After all, George Lucas came up with the Star Wars prequels.

I don't get why people have a problem with Gerard and Emmy. They're both amazing actors and singers and they portray the roles of Christine and The Phantom beautifully.
