This is a re-upload because the other one was a bit too much with the text boxes, and I'd rather some people get lost with some minute detail than everyone be overwhelmed with information.
Yes, I'm going to do a MUCH more in depth tutorial after this that's filled with practical examples, but hopefully this will familiarize you with the basics of how they work mechanically.
Hopefully this is a good enough introduction. And I stand by that you don't actually need to know anything beyond this to use circuits effectively in normal gameplay.
I dont know why it took this long for the Factorio community to produce an introductory video to circuits that isn’t 10 hours long. Thank you
ОтветитьAh, logic circuits: Protecting every single nuclear power plant I've ever made in factorio and mindistry alike.
One of these days I need to figure out how to wire up a train to listen to circuits so that one mega train can do all of my hauling for me.
That's like learning Redstone again.
Ответить"The basics of programming" in 3 minutes
ОтветитьThis finished faster than... nvm
ОтветитьCan you make one of these for uranium processing?
ОтветитьOk I have a question. I was trying to set up a way that my trains would know which iron outpost to go to depending on how much ore it had in the warehouse. I had 3 wagons for iron, so I connected the 6 chests in one wagon and connected it to an decider combinator that outputs red if iron is less than 2k. I did that with the other 2 wagons and used different colors in the decider combinator. I then hooked up the output of all three combinators into the station (send to train) and I made a wait condition so that if the train detects a color, it would move on to the next outpost so it doesn’t slowly fill up forever while all the other outpost are full. However, even though the input of the decider combinators are all over 2k, and there is no visible output, the train completes the circuit condition and moves on. Does anyone know what I mean?
Ответить"And don't connect the input to the output unless you know what you're doing" 🤣
ОтветитьOnly thing i once did, was sending the Items from my main base and the outposts on one wire. The other wire was sending a clock signal, so the main base, and the outposts could only send for one tick. So like a seriell Bus System, with a timewindow to send information(channels).
But now i use a more passive system for trains.
edit:
Ohh and i forgot nuclear power plants. You can make a fuel saving power plant, that only inserts one fuel cell, when there isn't enough steam in your storage.
"This is a wire"
Dear god
"There's more"
No...
Very nice! thank you!
ОтветитьOh, yea... Right, simple. Excelsior! Haha!
Please don't beat me
Great stuff
ОтветитьI think I remotely understand, but just in case, I'm gonna throw this on repeat on the big screen behind me while I play and learn for myself.
ОтветитьGot about 500h on factorio and never used these, or lamps.
ОтветитьHey Dosh? I want to make a request that you try a minecraft modpack that makes you have to try and figure the logistics of Factorio in a 3d space. It is called Feed the Factory and is interesing. No worries of mobs since it is more of figuring out how to make things and there is a way of faster movement and better versions give step-assist so you don't have to keep jumping. Maybe give it a look?
ОтветитьGreat video again Dosh! I was just wondering if you've played pathologic 1 or 2? It seems like the exact kind of game you would be into (in that its obscure and extremely painful to play)
ОтветитьThank you so very much. I've been trying to play Space Exploration for about 2 months now but I haven't been able to figure out circuts so I can setup automated resupply rockets. Maybe with the advanced one I will finally be able to wrap my head around it.
Ответитьyour voice reminds me of waffle time
ОтветитьPlease discuss the latch! ❤ that - for example - turns on at 20000 and turns off at 5000 fluid or something like this. ❤ it really helps - as you know - against flapping circuit conditions.
ОтветитьI really enjoy your videos your a genius
Ответить😊before I just didn't know. Now im just lost
ОтветитьI kept checking the bar because I thought there was no way this was under 3 min.
Ответитьhow does this video feel like it three hours long?
ОтветитьMan, your ciruit builds in your videos were always mindblowing. Now that you're doing a tutorial on circuits i cant feel but get super hyped on what i might learn to improve my factories 😄
ОтветитьI have seen you make some truly Beautiful (unholy) creations with circuit networks
Thanks for taking the time to spread your cursed knowledge to plebs like myself.
Now I just need to wait for the more in-depth vid
Yeah redstone is that simple too!
ОтветитьI understood... some of this.
MATH
Also the most important hint: don't overcomplicate stuff when you do circuits, for the most time there is ingame feature that do the function way better and go to wire only if it's easier to understand.
ОтветитьAnd be grateful you don't need to do this to direct trains on rails like in Factory Town. The moment I got that in that game trains are NOT automatically routed, I almost deleted the game out of pure fright.
ОтветитьCool and good explanation. They really are not very complicated until you start trying to do complicated math with them lol. I remember getting extremely frustrated when trying to build something that was universal with measuring fluid levels. The output was just do weird shit and its defiantly due to me not understanding how some of the output values work with the arithmetic machine..
ОтветитьI know this isnt a proper video to place this on, but you should check out Dyson Sphere Program if you're interested in more factory based games! I think the scope of that game is fantastic!
In other news, I really needed this tutorial c:
How dare you.... Seablocks and now this... Must resist starting another Factorio playthrough... Must resist
ОтветитьThank you very much, I've been playing the game since 2016 and never knew the complete mechanics of combinators. Now I know what the second output option in decider combinator means, thank you very much.
ОтветитьNice and compact love it
Didnt even dare to use calculators ect
Just started realy playing factory (with space exploration dont know why )20 h in and i only realise 50 iron miners are only starterbase for the starter base for the starter base
This is brilliant! And while you do have a in-depth tutorial on circuits coming up, I was wondering if you could do another three to five minute video explaining how to make and use clocks, memory cells, and latches? (Or at least a video that is them extracted from the master course) They are things I try to use and have read up on plenty, but can never remember how to set them up. Having a video about those specifically would be really helpful.
ОтветитьI don’t know if you’ll be willing to do this but I would love to see how small you can make your factory with only stuff that’s unlocked in both red/green science only. Bonus points if you do it from a fresh save.
ОтветитьWhere is the advanced course?
ОтветитьYes I need more tutorials, its embarrassing my game hours and I still don't understand this stuff.
ОтветитьWHAT!!!
ОтветитьUh oh, is there the longer one?
ОтветитьI’ll just stick to driving my 18 wheeler and watching your videos...at the same time naturally...while blindfolded.
ОтветитьGreat vid!
