Jordan Peele is a genius. and this video essay is GOLDEN
ОтветитьNot so popular take.
Nope did not make me feel scared and honestly was pretty dumb imo. The Gordy Scene was the closest to me feeling unsettled.
this man is a Great Story teller I already seen his movie multiple times and you explained it great
Ответитьmaybe some people liked the third act of this movie but i really feel that it weakened what was before that such a strong film, i honestly feel that if they ended the movie with the scene where jean jacket was emptying the books onto the house i would’ve liked it a lot more, but what act three did by showing the alien in such vivid detail i think really took away from the terror of the film, i think leaving the alien as a ghost in the night made the film terrifying and when they decide to try and fight it, it became so unbelievable that it completely broke my immersion
ОтветитьTerrible movie
ОтветитьI've seen it 3 times and this makes me want to watch it again
ОтветитьJust discovered your page after a 2nd viewing of Nope. I have always been a "sound geek" as far as noticing sounds that the peoole around me did not. I was obsessed with the sound design in Jurrassic Park and when i hear birds to this day, i think about the sounds of I dinosaurs in JP. I also love Titanic, Jaws, and Get Out to name a few. Cant wait to binge all your videos!
ОтветитьThomas: “ Was that the wind?”
Horse: “ Huff” (No)
You can tell the difference 😉
ОтветитьThis is a how you know it’s a good scary movie because not just the visual thing that scare but the audio. For some reason the ape scene scared me and I think it because of the audio
ОтветитьI remember watching this movie with subtitles, and the first time the screams were heard the subtitles just said women screaming which ruined the whole movie for me.

ОтветитьAny other movies like this? With visual and audio ambiguities
ОтветитьOkay, you're being too extra with this one. Keep it normal :)
ОтветитьThe screams remind me of the Wraith ships spaceships
passing in Stargate Atlantis
Jordon Peele’s Cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema ..Shot on 65mm IMAX and shot with Kodak Film, and shot a lot using Infra Red. Like The James Webb Telescope does.
ОтветитьMan these movie review channels are coming out IN FORCE with the quality content!
ОтветитьThat was definitely a balloon they used when they were making the sounds for the digestion scene.
ОтветитьKeke Palmer baby daddy said nope
ОтветитьThe sounds and screams of Jean Jacket are references to the Skinwalker Ranch. Skinwalkers make the same sounds of their victims to lure in their new prey. Maybe, could be wrong.
ОтветитьI would Nope out of there for sure!
ОтветитьFunny how the jaws music from the anticipation of danger is rooted in our colective minds. I mean, when I play with my kid I often mimic the music before tickeling my kid. And the first time I did, she reacted with anticipation !
ОтветитьFrankly, looks and sounds like an angel from evangelion at first🤷🏾♂️
ОтветитьI feel like an understated but brilliant part of this video is that by talking about the alien and shark and the ambient sounds surrounding them in such a soft manner you've sort of done exactly the thing you're describing, as it slowly builds anticipation that we'll see an attack happening only for us to instead be left to imagine it after the video ends.
ОтветитьThe most horrifying thing was the view of the victims basically being slowly devoured, then the realization you had been hearing that most of the movie and what it really was. That stuck with me, wow
ОтветитьThe more i think about this, the more I wonder
So the big thing sucks up creatures using the high pressure it creates inhaling, and the creatures are still alive inside.
I gotta wonder why nobody who has been sucked up hasnt tried using a pocket knife, not realizing how high up they are in a panic
They could have unintentionally killed the beast by making it unable to store food, thus starving out between failed hunting sessions
Technically by your definition it should be screams of horror not terror because they are literally the ones experiencing what is making them scream. Wow
ОтветитьThe context of the Chief Brody scene enhances our anticipation. Theres all these families around, children and out-of-towners who havent been told of the danger. So many possible victims who would be so much more tragic than someone willingly making a bad decision to face the waters with a killer shark in it.
Which i think is what people mean when they conplain about "stupid characters" in horror movies. Arrogance, yes, but without reason. Without the context that would make us care or understand the tragedy. That would make us fear its arrival or wonder how it could have been avoided. We can SEE how it could be avoided, dont run toward the shark! But in Jaws. Its not their fault.

Nope is my favorite horror movie, and Jean jacket is my favorite antagonist, It by all means is and isn’t evil, it’s almost omnipotent on the first and maybe second act, they treat it like a hungry, vengeful god which can only be watched and run from, but when the third act comes along, like someone said, it becomes more of a animal, it thinks and acts like a animal, it Uhm…. Shits like one to, but it by all means shows, it’s not some diabolical monster, it’s a animal, who must feed. Does it toy with people, sure. But any other animal is capable of doing that if their smart enough. I like to think that Nope is about how nature rights back, while there is a point that this isn’t exactly a animal, might I add they literally say it’s one? At first, the characters try to capitalize off the monster, not understanding the thing eats people and payed the price, and that mirrors the chimp in the movie, how the show runners capitalize off the poor animal, and they get their pay back. ALSO I LOVE JEANJACKETS FINAL DESGIN, ESPECIALLY THE GREEN LITTLE THING I THINK ITS A THREAT DISPLAY VERY GOOD I APROVE
Nope was so disappointing.
ОтветитьI watched this movie because of this video. rather enjoyable.
ОтветитьI can't stand working around schools and parks, because I can't tell the difference between children screaming in laughter and screaming in fear.
ОтветитьAll the scenes with Gordy were terrifying to me. Even just the scenes that had to do with him. Every time he was mentioned I felt this dread. Like something bad was going to or was happening.
ОтветитьThis film was brilliant
ОтветитьI was honestly confused to see the Gordy stuff come up later in the movie- I had never watched a Jordan Peel movie before, and I assumed the opening scene was an extended studio card
ОтветитьThis movie sucked
ОтветитьDon’t watch this if u haven’t seen the movie seriously
ОтветитьI really didn't know... but I really heard the people's scream like a joyous scream riding a rollercoaster and the atmosphere felt like excellent fantasy land but at the same time I worried myself to be seen as a psycho so I didn't mentioned that in front of others.
ОтветитьThe movie was shit
ОтветитьI know this video is about how sounds effect movies but one small detail about Nope that really helps build the horror of it is how, in the beginning Jupe is using horses to lure in Jean Jacket. But after the massacre Jean Jacket uses the horse that it left behind at the theme park to lure out the main character.
ОтветитьI had subtitles on so it told me that it was screams; kinda ruined it lmao
ОтветитьNot Jupiter calling the aliens "viewers" as if it's all a TV show
ОтветитьI’m not a fan of horror personally, but as a person who’s sensitive to sounds, I found this video very interesting. Nothing to add, that’s all I wanted to say! 😊
ОтветитьI find it fucked up how theres litterall children. It messes eith my mind cause most other movies dont have that) and how they die a painfull death. The fucking screams and than isntant silent. ahhhh
ОтветитьNão e um ovni e um animal as pessoas estavam dentro da barriga dele sendo digeridas
ОтветитьO homem que estava aprezentando queria alimentar o Jean jacket com as pessoas
ОтветитьThis is a debatable linguistic exercise. I'd say that "horror" is the ability to recognize how truly awful something is (whether you enjoy it or revile it is up to you), while "terror" is a personal feeling of overwhelming or chronic fear.
ОтветитьNope is one of the worst movie i've seen in years
ОтветитьI assumed the quietness you hear in NOPE was also related to a phenomenon people mention when they witness UFOs, called the "Oz Factor". In which all sounds around you seem to quieten or disappear completely.
