Thank you so much - this info was greatly needed!
ОтветитьBut what to do if gap appears over and over again? 😢
ОтветитьAnother awesome tip! Just the answer I need to my flooring problem. Thank you so much! 👍
ОтветитьGreat video. Thanks for tips.
Ответитьand.......just now...this video saved me!
I was all set to start sawing a small section to set into place with a ton of glue and ,,,likely regret that idea in a half hour...
When I by chance found this video.
and....it worked!!!!!!
thanks....
Smart ideas here. Thanks for sharing!
ОтветитьI would wrap the carpet tape all the way up to the top side and leave the end loose so you can grab and pull up instead of using the pry tool.
ОтветитьYou close the gap but what happens to the other end of the plank? Wouldn't that be the area that will have a gap now?
ОтветитьWell of you gonna have a cap like that at the end of beginning maybe it's not a job for you.
ОтветитьCan't thank you enough this worked great and saved my sanity. Just make sure you get the real sticky stuff. Also, suction cups won't work on any sort of textured flooring.
ОтветитьUse blue painters tape on the bottom. Some double sided tape on top of that and then the 2 by 4. Suction cup I must try next time. Seeing the other comments.
ОтветитьWhy does this keep occurring and how do you stop? Thx 😊
ОтветитьDoes this work if its glued down?
Ответитьthat closes the gap, but it will likely just open again since that click joint has failed. what's a fix to prevent this happening again? construction adhesive applied before close the gap?
ОтветитьWish that worked with the vinyl plank flooring i got.. mine had the sticky. Tongue and grooves so its pretty much gonna be where it is until i decide to redo all of it.. theres a few that didnt get seated right.. ive just been putting wood filler in the cracks and going over it with clear nail polish then wiping off the tile.. it seems to stay for a good while..
ОтветитьYou are a genius ..I’ve pulled my baseboard off for zero reasons. Thank you sir ❤
ОтветитьSo simple lol I’ve struggled with this thank you!
ОтветитьHow do you prevent the gaps fom occurring again once closed up?
ОтветитьI have a few gaps in the flooring in my living room because of an unusual circumstance in which there is a small elevation in my hardwood floors across one section.
My question is what happens to the other side of the laminate when you have other pieces behind it? Won't it leave a gap on the other side?
Do you need to do again and again until you reach the baseboard?
Thank you for sharing this worked for me. Just a couple "TIPS" for the next person: If your gap is 2 planks in go to the furthest board away from that gap like in my case close to the wall and move both boards at the same time. If you don't you will fix the first gap but create a gap between the other plank. Then that plank in my case was actually harder to get back in. I hope that makes sense. I also placed two rubber dumbbells' on the plank past the gap so the rest of the line does not move.
ОтветитьJust exclaimed to my wife “yes! Vancouver Carpenter has a video on this!” Worked like a charm
ОтветитьThis works better than the suction cups. The cups slide sometimes.
ОтветитьCouldn't you also use like a sheet of 100% silicone and something like a rectangular dry wall sander that takes the screens with wing nuts and has a big handle. Anyway there are many ways
ОтветитьWon’t you end up with a gap on the other side of the plank?
ОтветитьJust to be clear that's not a carpet knife.... The correct name for that hook knife is either banana knife or linoleum knife
ОтветитьMy question is why does it happen in the first place? How will I prevent it from just happening again?
ОтветитьGreat idea .. i have a few of these going on . thought about just filling it in with chaulk and paint it brown . this is better . Thanks for sharing
ОтветитьIt really works! I fixed a handle to the 4x2 to ease prying it off. On lino plank floor closing gaps along the edges was helped by heating the tung&groove with a hair drier.
ОтветитьShoulda left the gap so u can switch frontside flip over it
ОтветитьThanks so much for the advice. I have been looking at the gap in my bathroom for approx 6 months as the builder did a runner - it looks brilliant and complete now. Xx
ОтветитьLol i just use my foot with rubber shoes on
Ответитьwhat about if its on the side of the plank instead of the ends? will it still work?
Ответитьhot glue and blue tape rookie!!! lmaooo jk but thats what ii use much easiier. but you apply blue tape on floor then small dot of hot glue on the sccrap wood then smack away..then rip off the floor nooooo problem!! hey i lovve your videos watch them all the time!
ОтветитьThis worked like a CHARM!!! Thank you so much.
ОтветитьWorked perfectly!!! Had a spot that was driving my slightly OCD:) wife crazy on our newly installed (by me) floor. I used a much shorter 2x4 (hence less tape) and it worked wonderfully. I gave the front part of the 2x4 a couple taps on the side and it broke away from the tape perfectly then I peeled it off the floor with no issues. Very happy wife=very happy life
ОтветитьThank you so much it work for me lots really appreciate it❤❤
ОтветитьHow do i repair a butt joint where the gap was unnoticed for a long time and now the tounge and groove are shredded?
ОтветитьI have some alien tape sitting around somewhere -- I'm going to see if I can use that on the 2x4 for closing up a gap we have.
ОтветитьWhat about if they keep coming apart often ? Can you caulk the seam or something?
Ответить👍🏾
ОтветитьJust put a shoe on that's not going to scuff the floor and kick it in place. easy and takes two seconds.
ОтветитьWonderful
Thank you!
This is an awesome trick/hack! After installing 2,000+ ft in one of my historic buildings as we could not save the hardwoods, the age and moisture and movement of that building has created a few gaps. *note, the addition of blue painters tape on the floor before the double stick tape is the trick as the flooring we have went obsolete as well! My tip...use a rubber mallet and the pads on the floor pry bar, AND don't hit too hard.
ОтветитьBut…. Wouldn’t you just create another gap on the other side of the plank?
ОтветитьThanks!!
ОтветитьI use the sole of my shoe and kick the board in the direction I want it to go.
ОтветитьWhat about on the long edge, any advice?
ОтветитьBut how do you stop the gaps from reappearing?
ОтветитьThanks so much for having this video. I had 6 gaps in my floor from my dishwasher install severly leaking 2 years ago. It raised the floor then shrunk back and caused these big ugly gaps. Used your plan and it worked just as good as it did on TV. FABULOUS and thanks so much!!
