How to Treat a Bartender, According to Bartenders

Next time a bartender is rude to me, I’m gonna keep ordering Long Island Iced teas until I’m so drunk I fall down and pass out.

Tipping somebody to hand you a drink is crazy to me, yall Americans are crazy.

god, way to make a customer feel awful about being friendly to their bartender. “don’t smile in my face” like are you serious? you don’t want me to be nice but you also don’t want me to be rude… I feel so lucky to have a rapport with the people behind the bar at the places I like because I would not wanna come into y’all’s establishments 😭

These bartenders seem quite entitled, I mean a bar/pub is not a fine dining restaurant. Dealing with dumb or very drunk people is part of the job.

I had possibly the worst experience with a tender last weekend, sounded just like this. I'll probably just keep my money out of the local bars and give it to the state store and chill with my friends at home.

You guys I’m a bartender and these guys don’t represent all of us. I love it when people call me by name and when ask for help for a drink and I’m usually the one to start conversations with customers. These people in the clip are probably just entitled

These people act as if everyone would know what types of vodka, and beers are available! Lol, its your profession and you'd expect to know. If others don't know teach them, explain to them..

As so many others here said a while ago, while some of the advice from the people in the video is good, overall they come off as a bunch of entitled self-absorbed pricks. The female bartender is the only one in the bunch I can imagine talking to...or listening to for more than five seconds.

But then this is a video by VICE. It stands to reason youall would find the worst examples from a given line of work.

I had this one guy who was clearly brought up in Scotland hand me a South African driving licence that wasn’t even real, best fake ID I’ve ever seen

I’ve had people ask me if we do cocktails, I work in a rough pub, we have four things on draft and one is calling dark fruits, since when did we do cocktails?

Those comments about alcohol " carrying you through life " is super iffy... thats like... alcoholic talk... also some of these guys seem so rude 😵‍💫

One night in a long weekend ( three days of work continuously from morning to night) that was my final order. I still remember because I received that order even after I cleaned the espresso machine.
And you guys are crying about making long islands and calling yourselves bartenders.
If you don't like what you are doing just walk out from the bar and stop insulting us by calling yourselves bartenders.
Most of us aren't like you, we try our best to serve our clients with respect and do respect our profession even though sometimes this pressure is driving us crazy.

Bruh tbh I hate these Kind of people. The ones who DEPEND on you to supplement their income with tips yet demand you know what to order immediately. I completely understand that dealing with unruly patrons would suck but “don’t call me by my name” why does that even matter, have you ever heard of people being awkward. They’d just say it because they saw it on the shirt. Barking at the bartender like their some drink dispenser and snapping your fingers is disrespectful af I understand that but I don’t understand the whole “you better be prepared when you come here or you can just turn around” attitude. I understand giving a tip if yo running a tab I guess but if your drinking solo. You shouldn’t be expected to do nothin. Drinks are like 5-15 bucks I just looked up the average.
