I have an interiorised stammer. Somedays I just struggle to get going - so the ‘hi part’ of a call and when I’m tired I just talk fast and mumble so I get asked to repeat myself a lot which sucks.
Do you kow any fast speakers? I’m from the UK. Thanks

Slowing down and having pauses is great and profound ... IF ... you are allowed to do it without being constantly interrupted by the recipient! ... pauses are too oftem mis-interpreted as a speech end-point so other people just interject and completely curtail and spoil your message.

Another thing people could do is read books out loud and slowly then as you go pick up your speed to a comfortable level. This has helped me tremendously, now I hate reading quietly

I don’t mumble I talk normal. Everyone else just brays like a jackass. I never have trouble hearing or understanding someone. Even if they mumble. You know why? I pay attention and I’m not a human.

My problem is….I have nothing I WANT to say. So it comes out so half arsed

When I appeared on a podcast, I immediately started to slow down my speech because I knew that talking fast makes me sound nervous or makes me stutter. It reminded me of how Will Smith talks on his IG channel.

I remember to do this when its time to say something important. Thinking fast and stumbling over my words makes people lose interest
