I tried this multiple times and never got as clean of an outline as you did. Mine is a mess. I think maybe the size, resolution of the original image has a big effect perhaps? I didn't here anything about that, but I'm working from a 40 yr old image trying to create a decent sketch of the face to use as a guide while I paint.

The tutorial would be 10 times more effective without the distractive digital bird sounds.
