Unpopular opinion but Camp Jupiter is my Roman Empire.

I like the Lost Hero very much! Set-up the new series, had high stakes with Percy missing, Hera imprisoned, silent gods and the unnamed foe. Very interesting with a new child of the Big Three being related to the one we already know and love. Piper with Charmspeak and Leo with the fire abilities added to depth to children of gods we hadn't been exposed to yet. The whole idea of the Roman gods was super intriguing to me and that last line? Classic Uncle Rick. Missed Persassy, sure, but the he's literally the title of this book!

I just now this day, from this video, I learned that you’re supposed to take the jacket OFF the book to read it!

Both the lost hero and blood of Olympus was such a pivotal moment in my life for me. The lost hero was the first new book I experienced having been caught up with everything else at the time. Reading through these new POVs but at our camp we know and love was an amazing treat to experience. And waiting a whole extra year to see Percy again was agrivating.

Blood of Olympus in the other hand just instantly wasn’t my cup of tea. I already wasn’t a fan of the typical mark of Athena type quest but for the third time AND I started to fall out of love with reading. Now that I’m 24 I decided to reread all the books again and I finally was able to get through blood of Olympus for the first time. Not my favorite book but still glad I got to experience the end to the series. Working my way through Kane chronicles now and I’m just reflecting that I haven’t been this excited to read something in a long time and that’s all because I experienced these books again. Despite some of HOO’s glaring flaws they’re still amazing and a great read for anyone

The wait for House of Hades after reading Mark of Athena was the most painful year of my life..

The Mark of Athena ending had me spiralling for hours.

I have been in riordanverse rehab this year and being 10 months in I think I might relapse. These videos really make me want to read these books again. They also made me realise its been 10 months. That is enough

Joel talking about the Mark of Athena cliffhanger and I remembered my experience with it lol MoA is the first book I got from the whole 1st and 2nd series because at the time the only available books in the store was MoA and HoH and I bought MoA and I read through it like a beast. Damn that ending and I can't even read HoH immediately cuz I have to restart from the lightning theif

The only books I truly like in this series are The Son of Neptune and The House of Hades. I hate The Blood of Olympus. The final battle was ridiculous

I’m so glad that this amazing series is gaining more recognition. It’s been my all time favorite series since I was in elementary, and I even place it above Harry Potter which is saying something.

Something you mentioned in the PJO video but not here was the comparison to the UK covers. I agree with you in the PJO video that the UK covers aren't the best, but for HoO I think the UK ones are better. Might just me being biased idk.

I really want to know your thoughts on the Percy/Annabeth reunion scene, and the scene with Leo, Hazel and Echo. Those are some of my favorite moments in the series, they are just so funny and beautiful.

Uncle Rick definitely ignited my love for reading with this series just cuz of how amazing he writes his characters. Though I have found new fave books, HOO will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you for the video and Leo is best boi :)

I respectfully disagree with most of your opinions and here's why:

1/ I think that Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a better book series by fair. It's nostalgic, nothing feels forced or contrived, it has pretty realistic relationships and the plot is well crafted. For The Heroes of Olympus, it feels jarring and forced, many of the relationships seem unrealistic and shallow, mainly Jasper and Caleo. Heroes of Olympus' plot extremely jumpy, as if Rick couldn't decide what he wanted to do with it, and let's be honest, the only interesting chapters were from Percy, Annabeth and interchangeably (in different books) Leo/Hazel and the chapter switches themselves were jarring and confusing. There were too many characters that I cared too little about honestly.
2/ HoO really ruined Percy for me. His character arc should have ended in The Last Olympian, because he just seems 'over-developed' and out of character.
3/ I don't think that The Blood of Olympus does or ever will match up to the greatness and superiority that is The Last Olympian. TLO had majority of the book focusing on the battle, which made it feel authentic and paced just right. TBoO had majority of the book spent on some wild goose chases with about 5-20 pages on the actual battle. It degraded Gaea by 1,000,000% and made her seem like nothing to Kronos, who was a real looming threat and lived up to his name.
4/ The only enjoyable part of TBoO was Nico and Reyna's subplot and I will stand by that. I will forever be salty that their storyline was disrupted by Jason, Piper and Leo's plot. Still salty that Leo was resurrected.
