Well, depends... in the Submarine Force for example, you can still be an enlisted person, but you can reach positions of leadership, and engineering like Repairs Planner and Estimator, where you are the one that designs and direct the engineering work on the submarines.

Avoid going as enlisted they will treat you as a 3rd class citizen and belittle/degrade and will mask it up by calling it “tradition”

Once you reach a level in certain jobs while enlisted you will begin to feel sidelined by some newer officers appointed over you. Sometimes they may lack knowledge you possess. That’s when you know you should either commmission, get out or shut up and retire 😂

I've had a horrible experience with naval officers. They are basically untouchable and it sucks. def gonna get out asap

I go for MEPS soon. My dad is a Military Vet. He most definitely informed me of how to be as an officer. He included just bc you’re an officer you still treat them with respect and be there for your team in any way you can.

officers have better living conditions, housing and pay.

Recommended going officer. You will get treated better.

Had a Chief in the Navy get pissed because someone called him sir. He replied " Don't call me sir. I work for a living and I know who my daddy is". 😄That must be the difference!

I'll just stay a Petty officer until my contract ends. Becoming an officer will extend my contract.

I guess it depends on what you want out of the military. I enlisted because I want to actually learn a trade rather than telling those people what to do. I know a few who are going the officer route and I respect them, but I don’t like leading and I personally don’t see the point in going officer. I don’t mind the cons of enlistment as unlike a lot of people I know the meaning behind the madness and I can only get out what I put in. Hooyah.

Officers are the landowners. Enlisted are the peasants.

Enlisted keep officers out of trouble. Senior NCOs teach junior officers how things work.

I always thought enlisted run the boat, officers fly off the boat or command the boat.
