if i won lotto, i would own one of these, and some overpowered rwd car. maybe a silvia, skyline, rx7, 350z or just a highly modified toyota altezza.
but damn, i never thought i would want a little hatchback car, but as a rally fan. i really want this.
edit: i have to say though, its modern look is uglier than those other classic rally cars. so it depends how much i won in lotto for this fantasy, if its enough i would prefer to own one of those classics. hmm. but then again, those are too rare and valuable to damage, the yaris you could just buy a new one. so i guess i would have to own both.

The Yaris just hasn't earned any Cred...All the Legends like the Evolution and WRX etc used the Engine that the street version came out with...the Yaris DOES NOT...For a start the WRC car is a 4 CYL and NOT the 3 cyl the yaris comes with...destroying any Cred...no idea how Toyota got away with that with Homoligation

This car, much like the original M2, is one of those instant classics.
They are simple, easy to understand, unbelievably exciting… they have been built with a level of love and understanding that seeps through every molecule of bodywork. Not bland numbers, no customer base derived selling points… they are made to be brilliant and invented to be characterful.
They are the kind of brilliance we love about all our dream cars, our bedroom wall posters, our heroes. They are - simply put - era defining drivers cars.

Do I buy one? Do I not lol. Keep my 4x4 for the dog and mud fun plus buy Yaris GR manual or........... a M3 or M5 and the dog has to have walks from the house? I live next to a dog beach.... bloody decisions.
My opinion on the yaris GR is its too high. If I lower it then it be not as good. My old V6 clio was perfect - can't get them in Australia unless you have Ferrari money.

All I know is I want one.

Difference is where you are in the world... A gr yaris rallye is 59k aus now...

To get the type r you need 10k more.. An a35 amg!? A staggering 25k more minimum..

The gr is a bargain in comparison...

All that and what is under the hood?

Having owned one of these for three months, I feel like I'm somewhat qualified in saying I don't think there is a faster B road car, certainly on sale today, maybe ever. You get the confidence of the 4WD, the performance out of that engine, and it's all packaged up in a £30k car which is pretty tiny. There might be smaller cars, even ones with more power but I don't think there is anything I can think of with it all, which you'd be willing to put down the twisties on a British B road. Phenomenal car. Mine is permanently covered in crud because I am always going the B road way to places.

I haven’t been watching Top Gear regularly since the old trio was gone. However, this one review convinced me that they finally honed it to the point it’s now every bit as good as the old one. The content and cinematography here is top notch.
