I think naming it Alan Wake II is a mistake. It implies you have to have played the first one and that one didn't sell too well. I think they should have called it Alan Wake: The Darkest Hour or something.

NGL but the story of the he first game is quite the beast, it is a game that is worth replaying just for the story especially after Quantum Break and Control this story is really living and growing one of my favorite stories ever, so hyped for Alan Wake II for over a decade now

Certainly curious to see how the sequel plays out. Survival horror is a tricky genre that requires the right amount of dread and resource management that makes the player question their actions and worry over their inventory. At the same time, I'm wondering if anything seen from the original sequel pitch will manifest, like the world changing based on actions like finding words or Alan stumbling upon inspirational things like a television playing an alien abduction movie. In any case, definitely excited to see the game, and how the characters of Control will play into things. I can't imagine it being as simple as "Jesse swoops in and flies Alan to safety", after all, that would be pretty anti-climatic, lol

Cannot freaking wait! This came out while I was working at Best Buy in my college years so I bought it week 1 & was so bummed it was a failure to launch for so long. One thing I never hear anyone mention is the music chosen for AW. I always thought that was a very undercooked element of the game

Why do a lot of people criticise Alan Wake? I absolutely loved this game. The story is so deep and detailed. The characters are great. Seeing how max payne 2 referenced in it was amazing (the sudden stop was a line in max 2 after he fell in a construction site). Absolute GEM of a game

It's intensely gratifying to see this game gain the recognition it has always deserved. The depth of the enigmatic plot (which deals with ideas such as free will and sacrifice), the unique combat system that highlights the potency of light amidst darkness, and the memorable soundtrack are some of the many reasons why this piece of art, in my opinion, does deserve to be cherished.

Namaste and love from India! 🙏🇮🇳☮️☮️

I played the first one at the start of the year. The soundtrack stook to me the most, i would never have met songs like Poe- Haunted, Poets of The Fall- War and The Poet and The Muse (main theme for the game).

The survival parts are kinda dragged on, but if you're like me that played Deadly Premonition, this was a walk in the park compared to. It turned one of my favorite games just for the story and soundtrack alone, and me being a survival horror fan, was really happy to know they will focus on that aspect more in the sequel.

I also recommend playing the standalone DLC American Nightmare and Control. It's a great game by itself and is connected to Alan Wake in many ways, especially the AWE DLC that is a direct bridge to AW2

I actually still have stills from the pre release version of the game when microsoft first announced it it being on xbox and PC. I was so pissed the PC version was cancelled that I didn't didn't look at the console version and held out and played it when it was released for PC on steam. Alan Wake 2 is not the second game Alan Wake's American Nightmare is. AW:AN does add to the story and it's a bit shameful on your part that you didn't mention it.

Microsoft needs to get over the November release window and start putting games out when there are less games like the summer or the beginning of the year its frustrating how many great games could have sold better if they hadn't released them on the same day as another huge game like Rise of the Tomb Raider released the same day as fallout 4 who's stupid idea was that?!?!

Eh, imo the story was good but the gameplay was just soooooo boring for me. The daytime investigation was fun but the nighttime just felt cut and paste despite all the different environments. Run to this light to shoot some shadows then run over there to shoot some more. Run through some trees, some more trees and not to mention the use of three guns that wouldn’t be lacklustre if anyone did any bit of exploring. I hope that for Alan Wake 2 the gameplay is improved upon because the story was very very good.

I love Alan Wake immensely! The game, the story, the character, for many years. It's just very well done, unique, and brilliant. I don't think I've ever been excited for a game as I am with this one. I can't wait for Alan Wake 2! Finally, after a long 10+ years, it's finally here. And it's going to be survival horror...my favorite genre! 😭🥹 I never thought it would happen. I literally sold both my Xbox 360 and Xbox One to help me afford an Xbox series X so I can play this game lol. I will buy Alan Wake 2 the day it arrives!

I’ve payed this game about 12 times now haha. I need help.
So of course!! I’ll be getting part 2.
But I hope that this time they have the character in the centre rathe than on the side. It’s so awkward playing the character running forwards, but on the side of the screen. Such weird decision they made.

Alan Wake blew my mind back when I played it on the 360. It was also the first game I liked enough to buy the DLCs, which I find are equally as great. The game put Remedy games on my map and I have followed the ever since. Especially the amazing Control and its DLCs were amazing. Especially when you realise Remedy build an entire connected Universe with their games. I never woud have expected a sequel to Alan Wake, but here we are and I am incredibly excited!

I really don't see the appeal of this kind of games. I skipped the 360/ps3 and One/ps4 generations of consoles, I only returned to gaming in 2020, when I purchased a PS4 the same year the PS5 was released. This means I skipped the cinematic story driven drivel, and whenever I play a remastered game of that trend (or a new one that follows the formula... Control, for instance, God of War too), I find it clunky and lacking in all departments (except The Last of Us, which I find only a little lacking on the gameplay department, with the worldbuilding, character development and general narrative being good or excellent).

I discovered Alan Wake in about 2014 after hearing of the great reviews and unique premise. I adored this game, the pace, character development and psychological storyline reiterated to me that Sam Lake is one of the greatest game writers of all time. With the release of Control and Quantum Break, the Remedy connected universe only deepens my love for this franchise. Can’t wait for AWII.

One of my favorite games. I remember walking around Boston one day and stumbled into FYE (don't know if they're around anymore) with my aunt. I was maybe 12 or 13 years old, I hadn't seen her in years so she wanted to take me out for the day. She came across this game sitting in the sales bin for ~$10 and bought it for me. I had never heard of it before- but man, it blew my mind when I played it. I brought it to my friend's house one day (who's name is Alan, coincidentally) and we played it in his room when his older brother walks in and completely nerds out on us. He couldn't believe we were playing this game (when neither of us had heard of it) and he was begging to borrow it, so I said okay. Fast forward to today, I am 23 years old now and still jamming to Poets of the Fall with my girlfriend because of this game! So psyched to play the sequel and all the new fans this franchise is going to get.
