КТМ - это как Буханка : он переживет своего водителя, сына водителя, внука водителя и так до окончания вселенной. Даже когда вся солнечная система будет обращена в пепел, эти трамваи будут бороздить просторы галактики
ОтветитьThis reminds me of the American interurban, if it didn't lose it's battle against the city bus. So many small towns across the US that once relied on stopping passengers for business lost sustainable income and turned into near-ghost towns when passenger train and interurban lines closed, or when the rail lines were abandoned altogether. Thankfully, many of these abandoned rail lines have been converted into bicycle paths. They cut through the countryside along the same path the trains once rode. And some of the train stations have even been preserved for generations to come. I can only imagine what it was like to ride trams and trains through the city and countryside, as they were long gone by the time I was born.
Ответитьi love the greenery
ОтветитьBrilliant
ОтветитьNAAAAAAAAAH THES CUT THEM OLD SOLDIERS DOWN EVEN AFTER THES SEEVED THEM ALL SO WELL ALLL THESE YEARS!? they should be ashamed…I hope at least some of those trams get preserved…

Ответить"of what was once a great civilisation" this is wrong, the USSR was always like that. The great civilisation was the Russian Empire.
USSR = mass murders, greyness, sadness...
And this nation is supposed to pose a threat to the world? hahahhaha jokes on you. Their nuclear and military arsenal looks the same.
ОтветитьAccording to Wikipedia, the KTM-5 was "The electrical, mechanical, and aesthetic designs were derived from the Soviet RVZ-6, which was based on the Czech Tatra T2, which in turn was a licensed adaptation of the North American PCC". The "Presidents' Conference Car" (PCC) was a project of 1929-1936 as an "improved" Streetcar for use by American transit companies. The PCC was a very good design, even today PCC design "trucks" are the best undercarriage you can get for a streetcar that does not operate on very straight and perfect tracks. For example in Pittsburgh, when new Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs) replaced the old PCCs, the LRVs were known to for excessive noise on curves and wearing out wheels. this ws due to the LRVs "Trucks" being designed for high speed staight tracks not the many curves or badly maintained tracks. On the other hand the ol PCCs were designed for curves and badly maintained tracks.
Thus the KTM-5 can credit its survival to being based on the American PCC design.
Please note PCC stands for "Presidents' Conference car" for the PCC came out of a Conference of various presidents of various transit organizations to design better streetcar. They did a very good job in designing the PCCs (and since it was a conference of many presidents not the President' the proper first name is Presidents' for we are NOT talking about a president but many presidents).
I am also an American and we have called Streetcars Streetcars since at least the 1830s. To my knowledge the term "Trams" was never used on this side of the Atlantic till the internet (and is still rare on this side of the Atlantic). Streetcars is believed to be "German-English" for we did not adopt the British term for Streetcars but translated the German term "Strassenbahn" which is "Strasse" or "Street" in Engish and "Bahn" or "Car" in English.
Really interesting video - thanks

ОтветитьIn Sumgayit, Aze, they used to call it "metallom" meaning metal junk as it almost vibrated the surroundings it passed through cuz of its weight. They were decommissioned long time ago, no trams at all now. But used to be comfy to ride on them for some reason despite of its swinging to the left, right or bouncing as they aged. :)
ОтветитьI am a huge tram / trolley fan and this is one of if not the best film / videos I have ever seen. Thank you!
