From a story perspective it makes sense for Peter to take a break, he’s trying to focus on a stable career, not a part time. At least this time Peter isn’t dead, like in the comics, Miles own timeline. Even that said I think the next game will be an interquel like Spider-man: Miles Morales

Why the hell is insomniac trying so hard to be different? A new iteration of something doesn’t mean it has to be extremely different. If they’re trying to be unique, then just create an awesome story that stands out from the other spider-man stories.
