Why Valheim Is A Masterpiece

I think for some people the want to game will fade away but for the generations that were born with video games available will enjoy gaming their whole lives. It’s like saying the older generations will get tired of watching sports or gambling.

Valheim has just the right combination of good and bad graphics to basically look like how we thought our games looked when we were 12 years old

Valheim is one of the best games I’ve ever played but I play on a old gen Xbox one so it comes with a lot of lag so the only thing I would change about the game is a way to turn you particles down or even off because that would help a lot

Valheim makes my autism brain very happy. Plus i love vikings and Scandanavian culture

Ever since I started playing Minecraft I was dreaming of another game like Minecraft, with the only difference that it doesn't look blocky and that it has at least somewhat realistic physics.

And this game is it. It also has monsters, you are free to do anything, you need to follow the physics and build accordingly, you can build angled houses and make a much more vibrant town.

Literally only discovered this game a week ago after completing Terraria with my younger brother. I absolutely love this game! Really agree with you on the art direction they choose to go with. Sometimes I just find myself sitting in my base when it raining, and just enjoying the beauty that this game has to offer. Great video man.

What is wrong with you
Valheim's graphics, visuals, color vibration and lighting are fantastic
Zelda and other games you showed after have absolutely ugly, empty and boring grpahcis, visuals and lightning

I’ve found that since I’ve gotten older, I’m more drawn to the creativity of Indy games. Triple A games are made in a way to please the masses and end up being the same old same old. Indy games are where the true creative developers live these days.

The reason it's a masterpiece is that it actually isn't a masterpiece.

The fact it's ONE GB sort of blew my mind. Heard of this game over the last few months, and as gaming has felt so one dimensional for so long personally, believed it wouldn't be anything interesting or new. Bought it today and just began playing and it's so satisfying. The movement and attack mechanics and feedback is almost perfect. How such a small group can accomplish this while studios with 100's of staff release garbage is just embarrassing.

I'm bored to death of it, I've gone back to Terraria.

I didn't get this invested in a game since Minecraft. This game is so damn open, interesting and still simpe to learn but hard to master.

Creativity has taken a dive.. prob because greedy companys and woke production teams. We had more originality 10 yr ago. It's sad.

NO offense! But I seriously dont get why ppl love this game, i think its boring, repetitive and simple tasked, empty world and terrible outdated graphics and generally all movement and interactions are clumsy. We have moved FAR beyond this simple game. But good for ppl who like it.

sailing in valheim and dying is a nightmare. I wouldn't' say a "masterpiece". It's a very good game though.

On the subject of the graphics, i think they are best this way because it does not require a couple thousand dollar pc to run this game. in my opinion when a game lets almost anyone play the game because the graphics are not super high end they are some of the best games, like Minecraft and Terraria.

I really love that game and can't wait to see it fully completed. imo the only issue is the stam management

Oh, this game punishes you greatly for being stupid. The difference between a two minute corpse run, and 30 minute corpse runs are real. Other than that I agree completely. Very addicting.

Is there a point playing it single player? As I understand after a certain point, things become very tedious and hard to grind alone.

valheim held your interest not because it's special, but because this stimulation is new to you. As you get older, you need to branch out into different types of games in order to get that same hit you did playing mario.

Its fun till iron age and relaize you just gatta grind more bars and make the new sets of everything, then silver ect.

Um what? Valhim is boring, repetitive, looks bad, is one of them "no fun without friends" experiences, clunky, indie feeling, and again BORING. It does nothing rust didnt do a DECADE ago. It is the epitome of a lazy souless cashgrab. Oh heres a mashup of concepts that work with other games lets see if we can capitalize. With a clunky ass old game engine that looks like its from a xbox360.

I saw Valheim on sale, read a review that said "Just play it blind, don't look anything up" and did exactly that. No regrets. The learning curve is steep enough to keep things interesting, without feeling unforgiving. The lighting effects & weather often caused me to stop and stand around for minutes at a time while exploring, just enjoying the world in its simple beauty. I have the itch to start over and work toward the Mistlands stuff from scratch, maybe that's what I'll start tonight after the kids' bedtime :)

Excellent review, I think you articulated the charm of the game very well.

After only a few hours of playing I was hopelessly hooked. I saw a review of the game where the players were dropping trees on each other and thought ooohh this looks fun. Several worlds and characters later this is at the top of my must play list.

Pretty basic review for a game that you call a "masterpiece" and judging by the comment section I would rather not play this game but go back to minecraft or maybe try out something else new to myself like conan exiles or don't starve
