New sub, much like you we lived in our little camper and built. It's definitely all been a labour of love!
ОтветитьHow long does one round bale last your cow if thats all she’s eating in the winter? Love your channel.
ОтветитьI really admire what you two have done for yourselves. I’ve been growing our food for about 10 yrs now but I’m also 65 yrs.old. It’s more of a hobby for my husband and I but boy do I regret not taking this on 40yrs ago. I wish both of you much joy and happiness. You’re my kind of people.. good job!
ОтветитьButtermilk for pigs soaked up with corn is doing magic to pigs weight gain.
ОтветитьWe make a valiant effort to grow as much of our food as possible too. You aren't wrong about how some folks excessively waste food. I work at way too many remote work camps and people throw away so much all the time. Enough to likely feed a small village everyday without exaggerating.
ОтветитьAs a former teacher, I can verify that kids today need to have chores/responsibilities and learn basic skills.
ОтветитьIt's so normal for you all to do the things you do with the milk, but I'm sitting here wondering: Oh what's that? Oh why is she doing that? Oh wait, I can't see that cloth well enough. Now wait, what is happening underneath that cloth? Why the blender? Maybe you'll write a book of step by step stuff for people like me who don't have a cow or want to learn so much more about the dairy and plants, etc. Thank you! Take care.
ОтветитьNew subscriber here!
We had a great use for extra colostrum by making pancakes with it. they were super yummy!!!
Be safe & healthy!!
That is a beautiful cow. Great video. I'm new to you, looking forward to this!
ОтветитьY'all are inspirational
ОтветитьMy mom subs to ya’ll. I was working in the kitchen when I heard you mention…. You had your hair tested to Determine nutritional aspects of your health. Do you have a video that speaks to this? If not can you please make one. Maybe get the company that you tested through as a sponsor and bring in a bit of income. Super interested and now….. I have subbed to your channel!
ОтветитьYour videos are incredible! Michelle's sourdough bread making got me to get my own starter, hope my bread comes out ok! Holly is beautiful, how exciting to have new life on your farm! God bless you and your family.
ОтветитьA pair of piglets bought each year will drink up all that butter milk and tomato water people bug you about composting and they make wonderful self propelled rotatillers for your garden and fill up your freezer in 6-9 months. Or a pair of kune-kune piglets which are a slow growing non rooting breed can be out in your pasture and not ruin in while drinking up some of that extra buttermilk. Chickens are also surprisingly happy to drink buttermilk and whey and tomato water.
ОтветитьI loved this video! Your family is learning valuable things living on a farm! You both are so grounded & I appreciate that so much! I don’t have a lot of land but in my small yard I’ve been gardening for years & making my own bread & cooking from scratch. We also can & freeze dry stuff too to preserve what I grow. Thanks for the inspiration! 🫶🏻
ОтветитьI love this video! We homestead too!
ОтветитьWhat a fantastic intro video to your channel! I just was introduced to you on Farmhouse of Boone podcast.
I’m going to subscribe even though I don’t plan to be a homesteader. My husband & I lived on east coast for most of our lives but now retired from our professional lives, have downsized and moved west to be closer to family and the outdoor activities we most enjoy. Congratulations on your homesteading lifestyle.
I’m really enjoying watching your videos. I’m in Australia and have moved from inner city with my family to rural Victoria on 12 acres and also homeschool my boys. I love it. Thanks for all the tips! GBU
ОтветитьJust found your channel and subscribed. After living in Ohio for over 70 years, we are pulling up roots and moving to south Texas. You will be a way for me to stay in touch with Ohio.
I, too, have gardened most my life, learning from my mom. Now I have to learn all over again moving from zone 6a to 10a! Merry Christmas!
I love this! I appreciate your videos ❤
ОтветитьI don't understand why you don't have at least over 500k subscribers.
ОтветитьHi. Another great video. I binge-watched and now i cant remember which video showed the brand of Elderberry you use. Could you please tell me which brand you use?
ОтветитьQuite enjoyed the messages in this video. Makes me ill to see the food waste as well. I have been checking out your other video's as I was not sure I needed yet another channel to watch but because I am liking what I have seen thus far, I have decided to subscribe. I am 26 hours NW of you...little different climate but some similarities too.
ОтветитьYou need to remove those wrappings from the round bales. The cows can ingest them and it can strangulate their bowels killing them.
Ответить❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьVery nice work, thanks for sharing my friend ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
ОтветитьFor a 78 year old to learn something they did not know that grew up with weekly visits to uncles and grandparents on farms, that's amazing. I now know why my grandfathers made at home butter always had that really nice taste and yellow color to it. Yor never see that in a grocery store. Or if you do it is because they added coloring to it. Thanks
ОтветитьHello I’m starting my journey of bulk buying. Until blessed enough to have a beautiful land like yours. But I wanted to ask what freezers do you have and do you love them?
ОтветитьI love your family devotion with one another. I’m so glad you saved your marriage and came out on top. You both are amazing together. Merry Christmas.
ОтветитьQuestion about your raised garden beds? What did you put in the bottom? Did you line the bottom with anything to separate the ground/grass with the dirt in raised bed? Thanks!
ОтветитьYou call this à one week vidéo ?! I've been waiting all week for this ?! No , no ,no . The video is short and there is no content almost , except new small cow . You walking from one place to an other fast talking fast . What ?!! People want to see the real life of farmers the everyday routine , so they learn , how you spend your day , what do you do , the struggles, the conveniences , do you have a plan to generate electricity in the future , or maybe cooking gaz from the vegetables waste !? maybe sollar electricity ?! do you collect rain water for shower and gardening ? How you keep bills minimalistic?! How you homeschool kids ?! Does farming generate any steady income ?! And how do you maintain your relation ship? ....excuse my curiosity but I like you channel so much for me it's like my new reality show , but it's about good people . Keep up with the content and long 30 min or more videos at least
ОтветитьI've been binging your videos for a few weeks now and now that I've seen (and love) All of them, I wanted to give you guys a shout out that your skill level with these videos has improved over the years and you guys are doing great work! Please keep them coming. I look forward to these each week.
ОтветитьStupid Question... Do you sell T Shirts? (You know for the person ho has everything)
ОтветитьU are the Great Family. I love to watched you rs videos.Good Luck .🎉
ОтветитьCan proudly say that I had my own rabbit farm when I was about 10-12. I had just over 100 heads ... Built cages, got food for them, took care of babies, killed and processed for meat....
Good stuff!
That first "milk", yellow stuff, I remember in our house we would make sweets from it. It tasted very-very good
ОтветитьBaby calves are our favorite too! Our milk cow had twin heifers 16 days ago and they are the sweetest ever!
ОтветитьHomesteading is hard! But the rewards is what keeps me going! I chose to raise my meat chickens, had rabbits but they got to big for me to handle alone, I grow as much as I can possibly do on my 10-12 hr day work weeks in spring summer fall. It keeps me busy and sometimes I feel overwhelmed … but filling my pantry with foods I couldn’t do on my paychecks , I so wish I had bought a bigger property back in 2001 but for so long I had been just me and didn’t ever think I would be so into raising and growing my food so I just bought .68 of a acre I use my whole back of my property for my garden and it’s plenty growing verticals , I share gods bounty with fellow Christian’s like the Lord wants me to give eggs out also, the Lord gives me what I need and to store up and the rest I help others, the feeling is awesome. Thank you so much for your vids and showing people you don’t need huge plot of land to provide well for your family
ОтветитьYou are so right. It's so worth the effort. I have always been so thankful I grew up in this homestead lifestyle. I'm 66 now and still doing all I can to grow and steward our food as much as possible. Our children don't want to put in the effort but now our teenage grandchildren are wanting to learn as much about it from us as they can. That makes me happy.
ОтветитьOh man, to make my own buttermilk one day would be amazing. It's hard to find organic buttermilk and I love to use it for making pancakes, waffles and biscuits.
ОтветитьI just love you guys so much! Thank you for making these inspiring videos. God is so good, I pray that He continues to bless your beautiful family!
ОтветитьWe have a small homestead and I can so resonate with the feelings of joy, value, abundance and satisfaction. You guys are so inspiring! Keep up the good work!
In another video you guys had said something about trying to find different ways to eat oatmeal. My family had been making overnight baked oatmeal for years and we love it and its so easy. Here's our recipe in case you want to try it.
At night, mix together in glass measuring cup,
2 cups Kiefer
3 cups oats
3/4 cups evaporated cane or coconut sugar or sucanot
1 tsp cinnamon
1 stick melted butter
Cover and let sit on counter overnight. in the morning, add,
2 eggs
1 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup raisins
Pour into greased 9x13 pan and bake in preheated oven at 350 for 25-30 minutes.
We serve it with homemade yogurt, agave, and ground flaxseed. Soooo good!
I love your lifestyle so much Living with mother, nature and lovely animal, and homegrown organic vegetable I definitely subscribe your channel 🙏🍀
Ответитьgreat video
ОтветитьHi Codi, just wanted to let you know that I received my order from LMNT Electrolyte Drink Mix today. I put the order through under your Sponsor link and the 8 count Sample pack was not included with my Chocolate Medley combo. I reached out this evening to their Customer Service team, by email, so will see what they say. They seem like an upright company so will see what happens.
ОтветитьMichelle, how I wish you have also video on how to make butter or cheese, the way you learn from your mom, with steps by step, not sure if you have videos specifically for these already, love watching your videos, you and your family.
Ответить❤ thank you for showing us the good stuff, the stuff you love- as well as the challenges and struggles.- even if some of us would do things differently, we all have similar goals and focus, and dreams. That calf is adorable.
Our land won't support a cow,- (too many rocks, not much grass, zero pasture. ) but I would SO do it if we were able. We are looking for, and finding, CSA type stuff in our area. - like you said, sharing and blessing people is one major benefit of homesteading.
In that vein, we decided(two days ago) that we are going to grow produce for our local food banks this next year. - that is a massive chunk to take on, but, we can do a solid share of it, AND, it's needed. Will be sysrting the checking things out with the city board and etc. Tomorrow.
I'm already breaking out the dream boards and spread sheets. - now if we can just get my brain to like math(*miracle!) , we'll be set to start getting the break downs out on paper.
(How many plants, to get how much yield, for how many people, per week. )
My brain is threatening to go 'TILT' on helping narrow down the possibilities of what to grow...
Great video
ОтветитьPersonally I think the lifestyle would be freeing along with the healthly food. The outdoors always made me feel so much better when I was growing up.
