The 80's were of the best of times and so much more representation of values, integrity, honor and congruence with more willingness to respect others within society. Great times.

The 80’s were the best era to grow up in. I would not change a thing. Imagine the poor kids growing up today in a woke liberal moronic society…. Girls were girls and men were men. We were very lucky as it was the best time in American history.

1980 is the year my favorite album, Duke by Genesis, came out, & i think that’s pretty cool. Two other records from that year i like would be Zenyatta Mondatta by The Police & Remain in Light by Talking Heads, all three albums are classics that i heavily recommend

It’s amazing that from 1980 to 2020 was 40 years and those from 1991-2020 is 30 years. I grew up in the 90’s era and they were simpler times as well. I wish i could go back cause my parents would be younger and healthier and I would still be living my younger self as a kid.

While your general overall piece here is great and well researched... once again Weird History team you've LEFT OUT probably one of the most controversial cinematic benchmarks for all of 1980. How, (no really) HOW could you omit Brian DePalma's classic, benchmark psychological thriller 'Dressed to Kill???' Premiering in Los Angeles and New York City on July 25, 1980 this shockingly violent, erotically charged flicker drew massive ire from Gay groups and Women's groups alike all bemoaning DePalma's alleged women hating ways which of course was absolute hogwash, but CATAPULTED the film to iconic status and was a HUGE return for our beloved Angie Dickenson! (who still cherishes this movie as one of her absolute favorites to this very day!)

I had never heard of this John Favera, but this incident adds yet another reason why I have no respect or regard for mob figures. I don't drive. But if I did and I accidentally hit a child and killed him, I would feel very bad and distraught, indeed. But having to take special consideration for a mobster's kid just because his old man would kill me is very flustering, and is one of the many reasons that I became void of any respect for figures like that. Not even a pedophile can be this supercilious and imperious. I mean, was John Gotti so unreasonable that he had to kill a man just because shit happens? John Favera didn't even make any mistake - shit just happens. I can't even find the words to describe how condescending guys like Gotti are and how patronized I feel knowing that they need preferential consideration. Yes, I have to watch out for pedestrians and children when I drive - I have no problem with that as I strive to give everybody equal consideration. I can even accept that I could get myself shot robbing the wrong person - not because he may be a mobster, but because I advocate both my fellow man and myself having the same right to defend ourselves. But I am too adamant about equal rights and responsibilities to give some lowlife any special consideration.

It sucks, though, that John Bonham died a few weeks later.

Got pulled over in 1980 at 17 with a case of beer in the car and all 4 guys with open beers. The cop made us dump our beers and put the remaining beer in his trunk. Warned us don’t let him catch us again and drove off. Things have definitely changed.
