I watched a 2017 movie with the English title”Sky Hunter” (advertised as a Chinese’Top Gun’, but not really…) I cooked up a big bowl of popcorn and had a good movie night with it. There’s another from 2022 (“Born to Fly” I think…) It’s not supposed to be very good, but I’ll give it a try. I’m glad to have you helping us learn Chinese. Hsieh(4) hsieh(4). (That’s how we did it in the old days!) 😊

I purchased Better Days the second it was available in the US. Amazing movie. Excellent recommendation. I look forward to checking out some of the other movies on your list. Thanks.

This list is awesome… I will start watching them. I wondering if you or your class has a list for tv series or gameshows. I learned some of my English watching Friends and 24 hours and gameshows like Price was right… I wonder if there is anything similar in Chinese. Movies tend to take too much time and you really need to watch a few times to learn much from them.. but by the 3rd or 4th time the movie becomes a bit boring

I saw a movie called 妈妈！(Song of Spring) so emotive and with a beautiful message and powerful scenes, I recommend anyone that like beautiful stories and interesting characters to watch it.

Recently - on my fly back from Taiwan - I watched "Moon Man". Funny, crazy, sad at the ending. But I enjoy the movie.

To summarise: 1 and 6 brilliant films, 1 more comprehensible speech, and subtitles clear on both, great experience. Numbers 2 and 4, subtitles largely illegible, small white print on white and light backgrounds and cleared too quickly, couldn't really follow. Number 3, subtitles good but speech unintelligible. Thanks for that selection, do suggest more.

If that would not be a problem, can you also add Chinese subtitles to your videos? This will allow using "Language Reactor", a browser extension that creates subtitles that help learn.

I have found watching Chinese movies a very good way to improve on my listening skills and reading ( the Chinese subtitles). Thank you & hope you will continue to recommend interesting movies for us to watch. I have watched Dying to Survive previously and it was a really good movie. I will watch it again. I have downloaded Hi Mom and Our Times and will watch this later. Another very good movie which I recommend is " The Last Letter"..a very good story

Mr. Donkey《驴得水》is one of my all time favorite movies

I really enjoyed the TV show 一家人之名 (Go Ahead). The ending was a little strange but I loved the characters and felt I learned a lot about life in China in addition to learning a lot of Chinese.

I cant find "Nobody". Anyone? Where to look?

Yi yi by Edward Yang may be the best movie in Chinese.

I watch Chinese TV drama series with both Chinese and English subtitles. That way I can stop and look up any words. Some favorites: Be Yourself, Sword Snow Stride, Detective L, Ancient Detective, Falling Into Your Smile, Maiden Holmes, GO Into Your Heart, Encaustic Tile. I avoid too much romance or bloodshed, or gods and demons.

I cannot recommend "Our Times" enough. It's a really great movie and the theme song by Hebe Tien is also great. Definitely a cute "coming of age" story.

We watched number six. I thought the Chinese a bit difficult to follow but what a superb film, thoroughly enjoyed it.

My favorite contemporary drama is "Meet yourself" with Liu Yi Fei.
It is a work of love and depict the community life in a rural place.
As for historical drama the winner is "Love like the galaxy" watched by 2 billion people worldwide.
Comedies : "Love in the kitchen" with Zhao lu si,
and "Master of my own" with Seven Tan.

I hate aquafina, she's always the worst part of any movie. (reinfeld, rapping in The mermaid, "comedic" sidekick in chang chi).There are SO many charismatic Chinese actresses, but SHE keeps getting roles?!
