This is incredible. I've been sober for 11 1/2 years now but this song is very familiar. I started getting migraines when I was a teenager. Instead of trying to find out what was causing them he wrote me an rx for vicodin. At first it was great but I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Before I knew it I was taking more & more with stronger & stronger pills. I had always said that I would never do heroin, crack, meth or LSD. The first time I used heroin I was sobbing. I'm afraid of needles so my ex was always the one. I told him that day "this is the beginning of the end for us". Eminem's song Love the Way You Lie turned out to be 'our song'. I don't know how I even survived it all. Every night I would hope that I didn't wake up in the morning, hoping I'd finally done too much. I'm lucky I got help when I did because I feel so bad for people still in that life.

Thank you for helping me through my 3 year meth addiction.. no one "could tell", no one found out until it was too late.. No one knew, not even mom. Therefore nobody could help me but myself. With that in mind, I decided to quit "cold turkey" one day, and tell my family about my struggle the next day. I haven't touched that crap in over 6 or 7 years..
Thanks to you and Mac Miller I'm still alive to tell this story.

“Open that bottle, I wanna be at peace” if this doesn’t explain the hell that addiction is I don’t know what does. I truly believe what us addicts are seeking is peace. In our normal state we do not have that. But we HAVE to figure out what we can do for ourselves to find it. It took me many years to truly understand the serenity prayer. I was 21 when I first entered recovery so didn’t know much about anything. I kept going back out because I had every excuse in the book. Too young, didn’t drink, only had an issue with one drug but I quickly found out quickly I am a garbage head who will get high or drunk on whatever I can get my hands on. The wisdom to know the difference…..
