I noticed this a long time ago when I was playing a 100% journey mode world trying to get the corrupt gold fish statue and thought "this could probably be used in some very niche way." It certainly can be used, but this is not niche

Goldfish are 2 different NPCs when walking and swimming, so during rain you can do similar things to this with goldfish, and they are easy to find like bunnies.

Doesn’t this mean you can do this with the penguin statue aswell since they can also be corrupted?

tbh this is a case of us using a natural mechanic; bunnies turn into corrupt bunnies; to reach a limit cap. this would be an exploit rather than a bug as all bunnies would turn into their monster variant (and thus they would have to check for statue spawned and corrupted bunnies as well as statue spawned bunnies). tbh leaving this one in is just fine as most wouldnt consider corrupting their innocent bunnies as a viable means to cheese bosses.
on a side note, this works out way better as you can leave them be after spawning them in and not worry about any boss killing them except for queen bee.

fun fact: it's actually possible to fill every npc slot using ANY enemy statue and even just natural enemy spawns, you can even use this to set a fun ambush trap against other players where suddenly a metric ton of enemies spawn all at once to beat said player into the ground, and the best part is that if a player dies and despawns all the enemies, the trap is still set for the next player!

you can do a similar thing by using beehives to spawn ~100 bees, then using multiple different statues together, making sure to place them a bit away from and hoiking them towards you to allow for more statue spawns. this should get you to mob cap, or at the very least close to it.

I remember how in 1.3 I was despawning skeletron primes arms by jumping in helevator and reacaling after falling around 1k block so I can easily beat him

I think you can do the same thing with gold fish statues

Although I've not seen it used this way before, the corrupted bunny statue thing has been in the game for probably at least a decade. So I wouldn't be surprised if it stays even beyond this.

Not sure if this is patched, but bunnies turn into dynamite bunnies on the secret seed fortheworthy, so I was able to use this glitch without a blood moon in that playthrough

Posting this during 1.4.5 testing is just devious

I found out about this trick way back in 1.1 where I made a bunny spawner outside my base and whenever a blood moon rose, it kept spawning tons of corrupt bunnies

I've figured this out in the video I've been making currently. I used it to despawn the Hungry of the Wall of Flesh.
I've also used vicious powder to turn them into vicious bunnies when I ran out of Bloody Tears

Does this work with for the worthy worlds regardless of if it’s a blood moon, since all bunnies become explosive bunnies?

I had accidentally run into this glitch when I was playing with friends. We had bunny statues all over the base to spawn bunnies. I'm sure you know what happened next.

Would this also work with changing the bunnies with vile/vicious powder? (Thus not requiring a blood moon)

I actually found out about the vicious bunny glitch on accident

Sometimes, history repeats itself. Sometimes, somebody accidentally leaves one small snippet of history on repeat.

Btw you can use hoiks and mob statues to achieve the exact same result etheriyal showcased it on his channel so I would recommend watching his video on that along with that crystal shard dupe glitch

Incoming new fix in 1.4.5 for bunny statues... Only for there to be some other unknown yet to be discovered statue with a similar problem.
