What was ur undergraduate gpa? Im inbsame boat😢
ОтветитьThank you I needed this
ОтветитьYou are so calm. This video is great! I’m having a similar journey as far as retaking my MCAT, but I had a music teacher tell me once “Practice makes improvement. No one is perfect at anything”. Those are still words I live by, and slowly but surely I know I’ll make it. Much love and respect, from Wisconsin 😅🧀
ОтветитьWhat was your last score and how old were you?
ОтветитьIm screwed lol
Ответитьdo you mind sharing your stats and how long it took from underdrad to med school please? also congratulations!!
ОтветитьSkin color is the most important thing in college admissions in this political correctness madness country
ОтветитьBlacks have the additional advantage of having a few black medical schools which are really just for them. Of course, legally they're open to all students, but these are well-known black med schools. I don't know if this guy is in one, but additionally, I've heard of 3 and even 4- year plans to get them through the first 2 basic science years. And there are PRIVATE, one-on-one tutors with faculty and advanced students. I've heard of plans to where they can keep taking an examination until they pass it, but I'm not sure of the extent of this... Now, anyone around the medical field knows many examples of African, South American, West Indies, and American blacks who are absolutely brilliant and well-respected academically, who become chief residents, excellent fellows, and superb attendings in all the major areas of medicine and surgery. So just keep reading and please independently investigate everything I've written if you're interested.
ОтветитьDecades ago I was a drug rep and detailed residents and fellows. I remember a few "minority" ophthalmology residents and fellows, and one in particular was scary in the sense I feared for his patients. He was new in practice, and he told me quite unabashedly that his residency director had told him to call him for EACH AND EVERY patient for pretreatment review of his plan! Frankly, if he were to be allowed to continue to practice, that a step-by-step review was indicated as the best course. As I slowly and cautiously detailed him on a new drug, I realized all he was doing was taking copious notes for his director's review. When I say new drug, the class was well established and this drug had been out for a few years. How could he not be familiar with ocular anti-infectives, having used them for the past 3 years!! Ophthalmology is perennially one of the most competitive (and well-paying) specialties in medicine. "Affirmative action" is the euphemism for this avenue of promotion which largely ignores merit as a criterion. Nice guy, though, and completely unembarrassed by his reputation. Ignorance truly is bliss.
Ответитьwelp... affirmative action sure helped :)
ОтветитьFirst thing, first. Thanks for the video. Here go, I'm an international student, and I am like scare because in the place I live is like no require be good at school unless you want to go, to havard (is what people here think), and like is all screw up my high school GPA even science I am good at my grade is c+ something like that (and is because the professor don't like to give me higher grade for some dumb reason) anyway and like I don't know what I can to do, for make this happen like good grades at college degree i think ? Anyway is pretty much that for me, and other thing I even not in college, yet I know I freak for "nothing" but have a good reason and even because just are accepted 3.8 of international student for med school.
ОтветитьThank you for the video. What was your GPA?
ОтветитьYES!!! Make a video about the program because i am in the same boat, I am struggling and don't know the process and I am just lost.
ОтветитьI feel fucking stuck. I suck so bad on the diagnostics i haven’t even taken the MCAT. I’m just failing and wasting life. I did great in school, i have certifications and experience. I’m so mad at myself.
ОтветитьWhere the course video at?
ОтветитьThank you so much for your honesty and sharing your journey. This helps me to not be discouraged and to give up. I come across other videos where people have failed the MCAT two times and passed with the third try. Motivational video.
ОтветитьWhat was your new MCAT score?
ОтветитьYo! Thank you my man for sharing your honest experience and best of luck to you.
ОтветитьThank you for your videos bro. Its definitely encouraging seeing someone who looks like me overcome similar obstacles I'm facing on this journey ✊🏾
ОтветитьThank you for your service sir!
ОтветитьHey Reuben! I loved this video. While I’m not applying to medical school or anything, but my boyfriend is. He has a similar story and he is in his masters program right now, but he’s losing hope because he’s struggling. I’m wondering how we’re your grades during your masters?
ОтветитьMuch love, best of luck to you man!
Ответитьpersevere brother
ОтветитьHow many gap year did you take and were the gap years doing the masters alone?
ОтветитьFirstly congratulations, you got a lot of heart not to give up and keep pushing, respect! Secondly, may I ask what that last mcat score was?
ОтветитьThank you very much Ruben for this very great video , you do not mind if I ask you in what range your cGPA was when you applied ?
ОтветитьGreat video! What Special Masters Program did you attend?
ОтветитьThis is the second video of yours that I’ve watched. Thank you for sharing your journey with us! These videos are so helpful and encouraging.
ОтветитьHow much do you think that your URM status helped you? Also, if you weren't an URM, do you think you would have still gotten in?
ОтветитьCongratulations on getting accepted into medical school, I love seeing more African Americans in medicine, it’s awesome to see.
ОтветитьCongratulations! You did it. We don’t have enough black men in medicine. It takes a lot of discipline
ОтветитьI'm in those same shoes. I'm pre-med. Subbing for the journey bro
ОтветитьWhere in NY was your masters program?
ОтветитьCongratulations 🎊 awesome encouraging looking forward to more content
ОтветитьFuture ND here (yes ND not MD). Your transparency was refreshing and sobering. Looking forward to future content from the channel. Stay great, stay hungry.
Ответитьdo you mind dropping you exact stats? it would really help
ОтветитьThank you for posting this video, I needed to hear this today.
ОтветитьSuper encouraging video. I would love to know what program you took. I also have a not so good undergrad GPA but am currently getting my masters in public health. I am applying for this cycle and taking my MCAT July 29, so far the scores aren't looking too hot (highest score is a 494) but I am going to keep trying. If I don't get in this cycle then I will probably do a postbac program that focuses on improving studying skills and taking the MCAT or I might pay for a MCAT course (sure that would be cheaper than a post bac program).
Ответитьwhat course did you take? I dont think there is a video up about it yet
ОтветитьGlad I found this channel!
ОтветитьI’m a senior at a 3.3 gpa, screwed up my first 2 years in random courses like world religion and philosophy lol. I have all As in my science and maths like chem 1 and 2, physics 1, 2 , Biology 1,2 😅😅my “major courses” basically a 3.9 but I don’t think that’s how they look at it right?
ОтветитьGreat video, very inspiring. I am currently in the same boat with a low GPA and I just got my second MCAT score back and it is still bad. Will probably go and get my masters in a postbacc program when I graduate. Thank you for making this video, it helped me mentally to know that I am not the only one struggling.
ОтветитьUniversity of Richmond is an awesome school apparently. I’m a VA native. Excited to watch your journey
ОтветитьProud of you brotha! My primary app is in and I'm nervous and excited for what will undoubtedly be one heck of a cycle. Appreciate you sharing your journey with us. Best of fortune to you as you begin medical school.
Ответитьthis really encouraging as i’m dying in physics right now LOL…thanks for being so down to earth in your message it was rlly reassuring 💯
ОтветитьHow old are you now? In in pharmacy school and I absolutely hate it, I’m thinking of going back to school for Med school after but I’ll be 25 when I graduate with my PharmD so idk if that’s pushing it age wise
ОтветитьWhat was your gpa?
ОтветитьAmazing!! You're going to be a great doctor :)
ОтветитьI got screened out at VCU 🥹🥲. Pain. LOL
ОтветитьI’m proud of you 👍🏾
