The only thing few things I dislike, is the 7 seater vs 8 seater. I've had 2915 le plus 8 seater and loved it. I'm a toyota favorite. 2008 yards during long commutes but wanted suv. Went 2011 rav4 and loved it but needed more room as fam grew. 2015 highlander. Then 2021 highlander 7 seater platinum. Every bell and whistle.
The things I don't like on my 2021 is the back window no longer opens, 7 seats only, there's a park button not covered. If some1 accidentally bumps it while driving the roads ( in my case my hubby pushes buttons all the time) the car goes emergency brake and the entire car shifts and very dangerous. This button area should be covered. Flipping safety hazard. You can't train my hubby. I've tried. He's done it on every road trip. Smh. The pedals are too close together and the gad pedal is right next to center console your feet if big rub against it. The pedal is finicky and if not pressed right with feet gives a jerky motion that the 2015 didn't do.
My State had an ice storm 2022 xmas and every sensor froze so when driving lots of errors were going off. The newer highlanders also all have this antifreeze smell next to driver door and more noticeable after or at stop.
The leg room isn't great in newer highlanders. My husband used yo fit 6'2 in oassenger side with room ok. Now it's s bit snug. My father 6'4 and 300lb sits in it but just a bit tight.
The tow capacity for the class of suv sucks. 5k is weak. It's where my family might move to a different company for better towing. My family love highlander but they need to bone up on tow capacity and the next size up is a gas guzzler and tows more but larger body inside is like 4 runner, not comfy. Stiff like newer rav4. They replaced comfort with sleek and my extended bought based on what I buy. I'm good at picking vehicles for safety, type of use and no recalls within the model that is dangerous.

Well placed vehicle in suv market, dealer mark ups are ridiculous

What happened to the days of Toyota adverts ONLY showing their trucks & SUVs hauling Yamaha products? (and later add Suzuki, after Suzuki got brought under the Toyota umbrella) (OK, "only" + Airstream LOL)

Love the mpg but this should replace the current highlander and pricing should start there since now it’s a true midsize like all the others in its class. Front hip room is still smaller than pilot and ascent though so that’s disappointing, inches matter in cars. We were dead set but now the specs and pricing we’re not sure. 3rd row isn’t the only thing that matters.

Toyota have rust problems on their vehicles. The metal is cheap from china and is not treated properly so after few years the rust start to come out , I had one Toyota after 3 years the rust started coming out but the dealer and Toyota never find nothing wrong with it thanks to carvana I sold it my opinion it’s to pricey junk.

Toyota really just blew all the competitors away. Wish we saw a plug in prime version. Otherwise I suspect this will be a smashing success
