On this video bcz I bought some used laptop and it had a Bios thing on it, I know the name of the seller, but maybe he sold it bcz he could not remember it?

Or just reset the bios by removing the CMOS battery and booting the laptop wait like 5 seconds or more idk then put it back and it's reset

this doesnt make sense... you cant diskpart on the drive your running windows session on? and what does the harddrive have to do with the bios password?

oh i get it.. i was thinking to much and my problem is usb booting is disabled and this is commen sense to take the hd out so it boots the next avalible so thats why i didnt get this

4 years later, I came across this video and it helped me a lot. I was upgrading from hdd to ssd and system needed bios password. My problems are solved.

it only works if your bios is not loocked from booting from extrenal device

Mine still won't boot to USB and still asks for a "password to unlock system" when I press F12 for boot order. RIP

When I first got my used laptop (Vista) I was somehow able to put Win 10 on it but when I tried to hook up the wireless, it wasn't showing. All the hardware is there but no wireless. After trying everything to engage wireless I finally realized it must have been shut off in the bios but when I tried to turn it on in the bios, I couldn't get into it because there was a previous password. I now have a laptop that I can hardwire the net but not get the wirelss turned on. Any tricks?

You may also be able to keep files on the same computer (upgrade), by booting the computer first, then attaching the USB, and running Setup from the mounted disk (some computers this will work on)

So basically if this video is true, if you put a brand new disk to a bios locked laptop, windows installation should be able to start automatically without the need to do anything, right?

u cleared ssd but doesn't bios still remains locked??

the bios lock isnt stored on the hard drive. its stored in the bios chip. the only way to get rid of it is by actually flashing the bios with the driver from the manufacturer's website or replacing the chip on the mother board. this is utter bs and is confusing beginners. the issue with this laptop is the hp security lock which is stored on the laptop.

I did all this even removed battery and jumpers and my HP Thin Client T630 is still asking for setup password which I don’t have. Any other method to get this working?

arnt most bios passwords stored on a seperate chip, not the hard drive?

Bought a used LENOVO B40 - 30 with an operating system designed for the hearing impaired called ZVRS with a locked BIOS ADMIN PASSWORD. Can't load WINDOWS only Z5 which is part of ZVRS. Will removing the HDD and using your technique described in your video work? Thanks
