Great story!: Just a shame that in these hard times of war the childeren faced that as well, especially in the south after the loss of the Shenandoah Valley. Responding to the kids of today in film making with displaying fat kids in role of war an famanine is not making any effort to reality. Even 30 years ago there might have been one overweighted kid in class. In the end of the civil war especially in the South even if one in 1000 were it was exceptional. That Tom Berenger looks like an alcoholic is probaly far more real. A shame that film makers accept that the society is ill by bad nutrician so we can now affort to make bad movies as well

That little girl is a modern day adorable Shirley Temple, without the tap dancing of course. How sad that the confederate husband died at the hand of the yankee lover heart breaking 💔. Both good men. 😢

I really wanted to like this movie but I didn't. It reminded me so much of a bad high school play that I swear I heard locker doors slamming.
