Every person who is going to apply for that new Netflix apprenticeship scheme should watch this first.

Really insightful and interesting guys. My son is about to start filmmaking, I think he'll find this veru useful. I was a freelance illustrator and graphic designer, now an artist - i'm glad you highlighted the little-to-no teaching of the business side of creative industries at universities Thanks and good jawb.

This is top notch content fellas! I kinda wish you'd do a bit more of stuff like this, vlogs maybe or just life stuff in general. Like Duncan did those car videos a couple of times. Btw I remember a while ago you asked for comments on best bits of VVB for some ad videos or something along those lines..? Did you end up trying to promote the channel through that?

Great video chaps, thanks. I'm a sculptor in addition to working full time, so I've been thinking about whether I would give the sculpture a go full time. It's interesting to hear the realities of working in a creative field.

The point about social media is very important. It can be a great source of inspiration, potential contacts etc but you do have to be weary of it not dragging you down and questioning your own worth. As well as me 9 to 5 job I'm a free lance illustrator with past commercial work for books and video game concept work. But at times especially if your feeling a little deflated about your own creative situation, you end up gawping online at the top professionals work and making unfair comparisons between your level and theirs, it can be a real negative driver. It can also mean people limit themselves to the types of work out there as they become too narrow focused. Anyway excellent video gents. Keep up the goodness.

Duncan - I'm curious to know what your thought of 'Extras' since that featured a bit of what you mentioned and how accurate it was.

Keep up the great work lads, much appreciated.

Hello fellas. Nice one on this video. As someone who has been grafting away for 11 years (this includes my year at the Met Film School), as an actor, writer, director and musician, I know how hard it can be and really appreciate your honest breakdown of the crazy industry we're part of. I shall make sure to forward this on to my friends as this is will come in very handy to them.

Remember Hollow Man? In light of Universal and Blumhouse's Invisible Man, and as Hollow Man was a Paul Verhoeven film, and as I dont recall Val Verde covering the Invisible Man on film topic, I think this would maketh a greateth sthubject!

Hi Richard, there was some mention a few years back when you did ‘fix it in post’ that you were planning on talking about Psycho II. Is this something you will get around to? I only ask as I’ve recently read up on the Arrow Label Blu Ray and rewatched the Psycho Legacy Documentary. Psycho II is a curious one but still a very good film. In my opinion obviously. Thanks.

Very unfortunate timing to release this just as self employed people especially in the entertainment and hospitality industries are looking ahead to a few months of incurring tremendous debt thanks to the world grinding to a halt.

Thank you! I am in a position where I have worked 9-5 for the last 8 years and been very comfortable in terms of pay. I have just been given an opportunity to work in my dream department in film for a couple of months...means I might have to give up the comfort of the 9-5, especially when times are uncertain (luckily that is also a job that I like and would happily come back to it if that opportunity came up again). This is the first video that I watched when searching how to be a creative freelancer, and it just happened to be a film one! This was really interesting and helpful.
