Hogwarts Legacy VS Harry Potter Films | Hogwarts Locations Comparison

I am incredibly excited by the world of Hogwarts Legacy. But I can't help but feel like there's something wrong with the map. For example, in the books it is clearly mentioned that Hagrid's hut is not far from the Quidditch pitch (he watched the matches from there), and the Forbidden Forest begins right behind his hut. And all three of these locations should be visible from one side from the window of the Gryffindor tower.

The Dev team did a great job, however, that is not Hogwarts. They took way to much creative freedom on the castle. The proportions are off. Literally everything is randomly on cliffs. It’s all fractured and clunky, honestly, they should’ve had more open spaces and plains. everything is oversaturated and bright, the land is based on the greenish beauty of Scotland changing this killed the feel and vibe of the whole place. The forbidden forest is nice but the entrance should have been a row of tall trees next to an open field creating a natural border like in the film. I understand the castle was changed in the films but they settled with the Prisoner of Azkaban version until the bridge, that is the best version they could have gone with. Before you bring up the books, remember the films had a team of people research the books to make the castle we all know and love. my guess is that they did all these changes to please all the Karens that wanted to boycott the game for being related to J. K. Rowling. Karen’s that will never play the game.

Great game. But its too bad so little actually takes place IN the castle after the first few hours. I was quite disappointed to learn how few secrets there actually are to find within the castle itself. Room of Requirement was a cool touch but I feel like it came at the expense of too many other mechanics that should have been included such as proper RPG elements and stats for gear, your broom, and your wand as well as the lack of classroom time and co-op being completely left out. I mean, a core point of the books and films centers around a group of friends exploring the castle and the grounds together, getting into trouble and revealing it's secrets....together. To me, its unforgivable that co-op was left out of the game. And the deliberate omission of Quidditch (when it is blatantly obvious that it was originally designed to be in the game and then later removed so they could sell a standalone Quidditch game) is also unforgivable.

He didn’t go to the right bathroom in game. They have the actual chamber of secrets bathroom and sinks in game he was in the wrong bathroom

The Fat Lady’s portrait is back in a hallway as she was in the 1st movie. The Gryffindor common room is bigger to truly fit all 7 years of students. With Slytherin, we only got a brief glimpse.

i never understood why harry potter was so popular back in the day, so me and my mother decided to bench watch the movies this year together and it was a experience. basically harry potter was a G version of me but if everything worked out in my favor instead of against me, i just got the game mid last month on discount and well now that i put myself into the game to see the world i wanna watch the movie again to see those places, sounds odd but i will remember those places better from the game over the movie, although i feel bad because im a more powerful wizard than harry potter, i just have better tactical real time skills than harry.

A game made with passion

Movie Hogwarts darker, medieval gothic style is clearly superior. Hogwarts Legacy has a little too many playful swirls, almost silly. Too much Disney castle. Also the layout is too many empty halls instead of corridors and rooms.

And it's still not accurately to scale to the movie version too. Back side of the castle is drastically downsized, but the entire thing is about 70% of the original scale. Really noticeable when you walk across the wooden bridge in Hogwarts Legacy and in EA's HP5 or HP6 (where they had a moviet-true Hogwarts).

The only thing I miss between the movies and the game is the massive stone bridge in front of the main entrance.

this is the first game design in a while that I’m in love with completely. I’m in love with every little touch and every detail that they incorporate into this game, can’t wait to play it in November on Nintendo Switch

Someone can Help me to localize the area that Harry defeated Voldemort in Deathly Hallows? Like, where is the bridge that the death eaters walks to hogwarts?

i love how the bridge in HL is less warped than the one in the HP movies. it implies all the magic and supports that have held up the bridge have weakened between HL and HP

Hagred's hut is supposed to be outside the forbidden forrest right??? They put the forrest on the other side of the school in the game. Lmao

Call it horizon the future of London ♥️🇬🇧 and set place parts of the uk ireland 🇮🇪 dlc location or Europe Asia parts of USA and around the world and maybe play as a male character and maybe the focus should be based on aloy in uk 🇬🇧 and travel to England Scotland and Dublin and for dlc France Germany and Italy and stopping the end of the world

They made everything a little bigger and everything more spacious i wish it was exactly like the film with the coziness of hogwarts

There is actually a bathroom which looks exacly like the one which is the entrace to the Chamber of secrets. It's located in the cellar

I really wish J. K Rowling would write new books about the other schools of magic to continue her magical world.

With all the pressure to make this a game worthy of carrying the Harry Potter universe, they did really well. Not the best game ever, but certainly nailed what the fans wanted

Obviously, the films adapted real places to try to make Hogwarts as was described in the books... Avalanche team had a white canvas where they could use the now familiar scenes to give it a magical twist... loved both works

and im soo sad because we never see and meet the harry potter characters

am so sad because you are so isolated because you can't talk to everyone. and in the game the rooms are sometimes so empty and it's just not like in the films.

Everything that is different is either a neutral change for game functionality (round stairs instead of swinging straight stairs), or a move to book accuracy over movies (ladder to divination classroom), or a straight-up improvement (expanded common rooms).

If you explore the dungeons, you will find the entrance to the Chamber of secrets (near Slythering common room)

They created their own Hogwarts but based on the one created for the films which of course everyone knows. If they decided to create one following the books it would have been totally different. It is an amazing work and of course it has some missing things to enrich the experience, quidditch the most obvious one, or wizarding chess, a giant one! the game fullfiled my expectations as a Harry Potter fan. Most surely there'll be a sequel with everything they left out.

To me, the game is a massive fan service. It has so many eastereggs, wordplays to the original story, just amazing. Plzs: it's a really fun game. 🤩

Real difference: great hall has 2 big corridors either side
The front viaduct is smaller and wider and it’s very below the entrance courtyard and theirs lots of vines and ancient vibe to the outside

This game truly is a masterpiece would expect nothing less from the Harry Potter universe
