I had heard that purple heart wood is incredibly tough. Making it sorta difficult to work with. For like grinding and lathing. But also makes the product last a lot longer.
Anyone else like to watch these kinds of videos at 2X speed? 😁
I found a very heavy knife under a house that I was renovating. The house was built in 1890 in Mobile, Alabama. It's full tang, about 24 inches, is quite heavy, the rivets are still there but the handle has rotted away. It has a hole through the steel about 3 inches from the tip and away from the edge. like it was made to hang on a peg in a butcher shop. It's shaped similar to a Bowie. I messed around with it a bit, cleaned it, sharpened it, and cut a chicken in half with one blow. It cuts beef bones with one blow as well. Your video makes me want to fully restore it and put a nice handle on it. Thanks.
Very good!
I'm from Americana SP Brasil.
Next time you use purple heart wood can you add the word Wood to the title.
I thought you were doing a handle with a Purple Heart Medal inlaid in it.
Otherwise great video and awesome restoration.
it is not a restoration, it is the destruction of an old object. why not buy a new knife?
This is not restoration. A restorer retains the history of an object and restoration is about stabilisation not obliteration of its history.
U could of just reuse that handle what a waste????!?
