does Janeway forget how she collaborated with the genocidal borg to suit her own interests??

I'd think, over time, the equinox crewmembers earned their ranks and trust back. Probably with Janeway's backing. Then again, "They were only following orders..."

There is never any follow-up to the Equinox crew incorporated into Voyager, which is annoying. It could have made for interesting storylines. A new Seska born out of the ex-Equinox lot, for example. Or a Gilmore redemption episode. And nothing in the canon about what happened to them in the end.

Were the Equinox survivors invited to the pot luck?

While dressing down the five Equinox crew members, I think Janeway understood that they had been following their captain's orders which why she didn't just confine them to the brig the rest of the trip back to earth.

There is finally follow-up to the Equinox crew in the ST Intrepid episode "Equinox Remembrance".

Pity they didn't turn the Voyager short story "Brief Candle" from the "Voyager: Distant Shores" into an episode. It's where Marla Gilmore returns.

Whatever happened to them? They were never mentioned again. 😢

So sad; if only things could have been different, Voyager welcoming the Equinox crew with open arms and having a big party to do so, and the Equinox crowd loving their time on Voyager. But really, the Equinox lot had nobody to blame but themselves and their own superiors.

It's too bad we never saw any follow up with the Equinox 5. There could have been a story told how they try to find redemption or crash and burn under their situation.

You know, in hindsight after this show has long ended, it's really too bad the writers never had future episodes with the Equinox crew fitting in on Voyager. The season 6 episode, "Good Shepherd" would have been an amazing episode to rehash some of those Equinox crew members.

And we've never seen them ever again.

I have to assume they all die in a federation prison when they get to Earth

Man. I just love Captain Janeway so much. She's my ideal captain.

There's the heavy handed symbolism of the name plaque falling down, which is obviously intended as a metaphor for the loss of her Captain's moral compass in the battle to take down Equinox, but overall this is one of the best episodes of Voyager, and I say that with Voyager having been my first love in the Star Trek universe.

At the beginning, Janeway is visibly angry, but keeping a lid on her anger. If it were Kirk, Picard or Sisko reprimanding those 5 officers, they probably would've raised their voices to them.

not sure what they thought the equinox couldve done, their high ranks were killed and their ship was destroyed all they have left is voyager in order to get home, plus theyre starfleet officers i dont think the concept of killing fellow officers out of revenge is appealing to them

I do wonder what happened with them when they got back to earth

why didn't the anti-matter aliens pursue Voyager if they had the crew of Equinox on-board? that violates Janeway's promise that she'd give them the crew of the Equinox.. which was the sole thing stopping them from declaring war on all humans..

After all these years, it still bothers me that the writers didn’t shift the story by not destroying the equinox, but instead adding a second ship to the journey. She could have negotiated with the beings to retain the vessel, but stripped of the technological modifications that were killing them. That was one of multiple ships that could have been made into Delta fleet.

Chakotey was a good number 1!

She was on Dallas for a short time.

They'll end up on permanent KP duty with Nelix.

Great show Most of the time But the Best Ep ~ Story is THE GOOD SHEPARD ! ? where Cap Janeway take ' s a small group of miss ~ fist ' s and try ' to help them bond as part of Voyager Crew , one of them is terrifed of EVERY ~ THING a man , another man Very High IQ but even most problem ' s than Lt Barkley ! ? a ~ team , and one young woman who has a problem with Mathermatic ' s ! ? that REALLY hit home with me , I needed a LOT of help just to get a passing grade in G , C , S , E . Math back in 1992

Wonder whatever happened to those five.

Captain: "Of course, you will still be promoted before Ensign Kim."

What many people don't remeber I think, is those are the exact same words she spoke to Ransome on the bridge of his ship. I believe her expression is the remembrance of those words to him and her realization that they had both fallen. There are quite a few parallels between her and Ransome but she had a moral First Officer to help her from forgetting who she is and to bring her back from the edge of that precipice.

"...and the Holodeck? Well, you can forget that right now. Also, the food replicators will not make you anything with synthahol in it. You will be under constant computer surveillance so when you eat, sleep, burp, fart, masturbate it'll be recorded in the ships log. Oh yea, one last thing: you have to cut your own hair. Dismissed"

Captain Janeway could only strip the 5 survivors of their ranks. What they did was so egregious and came within hair breadths of killing her crew required severe punishment.
Rank is a privilege and they abused it. They will be on report for a long time, with very little prospect of promotion.

Now what are we going to do. With the woman who collaborated with the Borg. Dooming hundreds of worlds to assimilation.

They should have episodes with the crew dealing with the Equinox crew. Two Voyager crew died so it would have been nice to see how their friends dealt with these five.

The disgrace of the Equinox's crew was a legacy that endured for a week.

As captain, Janeway has made a lot of mistakes and poor decisions over the years. But remember she is human just like the rest of us. She does over the course of this show learns from her mistakes and betters herself a long with every other member of the Voyager crew.

I bet no Starfleet ship has borne the name Equinox since.

The Equinox survivors would certainly be discharged from Starfleet. The type of discharge would depend on their conduct aboard Voyager.
However Captain Janeway would not escape punishment.
Because she had cuffed Crewman Lessing to a chair instead taken to the brig didn't ensure he was read his rights, proceeded to interrogate him under the threat of death. This amounts to mistreatment of a prisoner in custody
This shows how clouded her judgement was. Lessing is going to be loyal to his captain and is prepared to die before he tells her anything.She would have done the training courses in resistance to interrogation. The tactics used usually include fear of harm not actual harm. The student then has a cover story to drip feed to the interrogators to increase their value as a captive. The tactical questioners may use techniques such as:
. Logic- asks you questions,lets you answer speak then points out inconsistencies
. Mutt and Jeff-one is nasty, the other not
. Gentle, friendly -offer a cup of coffee, snack , wrap him up in a blanket.
In dealing Lessing; you have a very junior crewmen, frightened, minimal security clearance whose nerves are shot by constant attacks. A combination of logic and friendly would probably work.

The dressing down of the Equinox crew is one of the best scenes in Star Trek. It is a shame we had no follow-up on them in the series.

If VOYAGER is a family as Janeway always said. Then Chakotay was the the Big Brother looking out for everyone. Always making sure not only the crew and ship where okay. But so was the Captain. 🖖

Bet the Equinox gang were thrown in the brig when Ransom beamed them to Voyager and spent time stewing there before Janeway saw them.

I can just see Shakespeare writing a tragedy about Ransom.

One of the questions the Equinox saga raises is: do desperation and dire circumstances drive people to evil, or do desperation and dire circumstances become their excuse for evil?

Hopefully there were additional punishments like no holodeck at all, the only food they could eat was Neelix's root stew or emergency rations, all five especially Marla kept separated at all times so they can't plan anything, no away missions to deny a chance to escape, etc. Hopefully what awaits them in the Alpha Quadrant is the seldom used General Order 4 which is the exception allowing the death penalty.
