If I keep the same number of different Shift Reg, es 2 branch with 2x 74HC165 and 1 branch with 2x 74HC595, is possible have CLK and LATCH/CLEAR in common?

Hard to understand when you describe as connect pin 2 to pin 11. Why? What does it mean? If you don't tell why just it would be easy to add some text close to register for understanding connection.

Just ran into an unusual issue with a batch of Nexperia 74HC595 units which the Fairchild version does not exhibit. Turns out that pin 11 (shift reg. clk)suffers 'ringing' that's tough to quantify as any Oscope probe capacitance is enough to stop it. A wet finger capacitance on the pin makes it work fine. My solution ended up being a 470Ω inline with pin 11 to defeat the ringing resonance. I was running it with a 5V PIC 16F886 MCU. Threw away a few 'bad' Nexperia chips b4 I figured out the issue so I could use them.

Excellent! I needed to read the states of several pir and magnetic switch sensors while also controlling lights. Shift registers fit this problem like a glove.

An 8x8 LED cube has 8 x 8 x 6 = 384 LEDs, not 512.

I don't understand why in the ilustration buttons connected with 3 pins , but after wiring is done with only 2 pins for each button

So the schematic of hooking it all up was wrong with the 8 LEDs with resistors when you used a resistor array, hmmm... it's cool and better and all but not what the diagram showed on the onset. Love your channel, subbed.

Would it be possible to use 2 outputs to create 4 different states, thus controlling 4 LEDs? It would sort of double the output pins every time you add a new pin into the equation.

Well presented. Electrolytic capacitors are not ideal components. They have some value of inductance which increases with capacitor size. This means the electrolytic capacitor does not suppress high frequency components as well as it suppresses lower frequencies. It is common in linear power supplies to see a 10,000 microfarad capacitor in parallel with a 0.1 to 1 microfarad Mylar or disc capacitor. The small capacitor suppresses the higher frequencies. The large one smoothies the rectified input

I've got a Kingbright 7-segment display (SC56-11SRWA) and had to switch the outputs 1 and 2 of my 74HC595 to make your code work properly.

Good day. I tried the 74HC595 using 8-led sample circuit from this video. The problem is that pin 15 (Q0 or QA) of the 74HC595 is not driving the LED. DC voltage between the resistor and LED is at 3V max. While the remaining LEDs that are working goes 4.5v. I tried replacing the resistors with 220, 390, 540 ohms, replacing with new 74HC595 but still pin 15 is not lighting its LED. I appreciate your advice. Thanks.

I kept using eight resistors for these shift register projects, so I cheaped out and stuck them in a DIP socket. Works okay.
