The Hogyoku is a straight up bitch for taking Gin’s moment. If Aizen didn’t get that boost, Gin would have been the undisputed GOAT of the entire first half of the series. Talk about playing a long game.

Fun fact, in the actual episode gin said "Maybe next time" because they didn't know it would be foreshadowing this but in this scene they changed the line in the flashback to "sorry about that"

In hindsight it was actually very arrogant of Aizen to make someone who was planning to betray him from the start into his right hand man just because he wanted to know how he would do it. The fact that Gin was such a talented soul reaper was even more reason not to let him into his inner circle.
The worst part is that Aizen repeated the same mistake that Shinji Hirako made. A mistake that Aizen exploited. The only difference is that at least Hirako made Aizen his lieutenant because he wanted to keep an eye on him, Aizen was just curious about Gin.

It's interesting how, deep down, Aizen wanted to be stopped by someone.

He let Gin try to assassinate him by keeping him around.
He let Ichigo live and later would've killed all of his friends and shown Ichigo their corpses to bring out the Vasto Lorde transformation.

It's a part of Aizen's character almost nobody talks about

This fight is 9 minutes!? Probably longer without the editing but still. That’s quite the run time for a fight that’s pretty one sided.

Though if you remove the flashbacks and cutaways it would be shorter.

Instead of talking he should have annihilated his entire body with several more strikes, like Yhwach did with Yammamoto. I doubt that he can regenerate his head after being turned into dust.

Gin wanted revenge in any way, doesn't make him a good guy. Don't forget he almost killed Rukia for his own purpose.

Where was Tessai, he would have presented a much greater challenge to Aizen than that scrub. I would think he would want a shot at some payback as well.

Okay so for those that do not know Rangiku was transporting the hogyoku for whatever reason she was transporting it. Aizens men showed up, and I believe both sexually and physically assaulted her in their mission to retrieve it. It's truly the thing that they stole from her that he cannot give her back. Gin being her best friend at the time made it his life's mission to destroy Aizen. He never lost sight of the end game goal.

That's just a clairscentiant view point of it.

I wonder but also theorize that when Gin says "Kill 'em, Kamishini no yari", he's actually looking Aizen dead in the eyes from this scene. Though you can't see from the angle he's standing, I would put money on the death gaze that Gin is laying down. Chilling....

I wondered why gin didn't kill aizen soon as he found his weakness then I realized he waited till aizen got too cocky and stopped using his spell to be sure he wasn't under its spell
