It's a good car, but why did they remove the indicator stalks? How stupid, it's very offputting. Also if you get the standard range car then you really can only get it in white because the base price is £39,900 but if you pick a colour it's £2,000 which then puts it into the £40k "luxury" car tax bracket, which from 2025 includes EV's. So then your £2,000 paint will cost £4,050! Also Musk just fired the entire supercharger team at Tesla so I don't know how much extra investment is going to be made into the network.

On my car I have a switch on the stalk which alters the sensitivity of the auto wipe. I always like to reverse indicators after indicating right on a roundabout when approaching the turn off so people know exactly where I am going. I do not fancy doing this on an inverted steering wheel. I suppose there are not many roundabouts in the US where this car comes from. My car cost £26,000 and has a plethora of controls, a behind wheel display and a panorama roof yet the Tesla entry price is a tad under £40,000 with this bare bones rudimentary cost slashing control system. If this is the best electric car then things are in a bad way. Minimalism is alright as a lifestyle choice in the city flat but just plain dangerous in a motor vehicle. I really avoid using the centre screen whilst driving as it is distracting and dangerous. I noticed how much you had to reach over to access things.

If you were in a byd seal you wouldn't be able to use most tesla superchargers as they are currently incompatible with v3 and v4 superchargers. We have the same problem with our atto3.

I made rather bad experience with the automatic cruise control. I quite often slows down for no reason. It accelerates back quite slowly. It stops so far from the car in front that almost a second car would fit in. The cruise control in my Skoda is way-way more reliable and robust.

Also, controlling the cruise control needs more attention. You can't just restore the speed you had earlier. Adjusting from 60 to 100 km/h takes a lots of scrolling. Compared to just lifting the stalk four times quickly.

I don't really get the hype about its software. Not even the navigation is nearly as good as Google Maps. And you have no Android Auto.

All in all, I've found the usability of this car so annoying during the few days I tried it I wouldn't take it, no matter how good performance, range etc. are.

Sorry guys, I don't want a car like this in 2024. I don't want to get used to things I know very well can work better.

One more reason why I would not buy a Tesla is mainly on how gimmicky it is as it's too minimalist for its own good.

Removing the stalks and the ultrasonic parking sensors are the two reasons I won't be replacing my 2019 M3 with this new model. The left stalk button overrides the rubbish automatic wiper mode. I might get used to no stalks, but non-regular drivers would find it dangerous. Teslavision is no substitute for ultrasonic sensors when parking in tight spaces...

No issues with the indicators. 10 minutes had in stored to memory. If after 3000 miles you still can’t get it then that’s your own issue not Tesla’s. probably jumping from a standard stalk car each time then going to this can confuse but not if it’s your only drive each day.

Yes, its the best ev hands down. Bmw are ok but dont have the tech or performance or range. Tesla cars are the safest cars by a country mile. They have the most efficient drivetrains and their software is world leading, by a mile - no other company comes close.

FSD appears to have become realized now with version 12.3. If true this will be a very powerful tailwind for extant sales of new Model 3, S and X which have been rather moribund the past Year. Cybertruck has become a monster sales hit for 2024 which bodes very well for all Tesla owners and its entire ecosystem which currently is truly massive and unlike any other vehicle player in the World. Toyota has been the first to take a huge hit in sales as a consequence not only in China and Korea but Japan as well. The electronics compared to Tesla are truly dated but of course this is true of all Industry players at the moment. 😮😮😮😮😮😮 At some point Tesla might even start to sell in South Africa!

the indicator button placement is the same direction as the indicator stalk, up for right and down for left (because that's the way your left hand would travel if you were turning in those directions)

@radeklukas
@radeklukas - 19.03.2024 00:15

For those having issues with the relative placement of indicator buttons... don't go looking for some complicated logic, it is still the same intuitive way as with stalks... the correct indicator button is in the direction of you turning the wheel. Meaning Right is on the top, because you turn the steering wheel clockwise - "to the right". The same applies for those "roundabout doomsayers"... just press the button that is in the direction of you turning the wheel. Which is actually more intuitive than those supercar indicator buttons because once they are each at the opposite side of the wheel, there is no logic to which one should you press that is independent from the wheel orientation.

How hard can it be to remember how to use the turn signals? With a stalk, you find the horizontal thing at the left of the wheel and press down for left and up for right. Without a stalk, you find the horizontal index bar on the left side of the wheel and press below it for left or press above it for right. Stalk or no stalk, find a horizontal thing and go down (left) or up (right). duh.

I have been waiting over 3 months for delivery of my 2024 Model 3 Long Range and nobody knows anything-my car is way past original delivery date? Now every day, delivery date is extended, with no end in sight. Most other car manufactures can tell you where your car is every step of the production and delivery process, but not Tesla. Their customer service is non-existent after you order

Tesla are way ahead on software, on UI, on supercharging and efficiency. All the big legacy brands have this "one foot in, one foot out" approach to developing EVs. Whereas Tesla are "do or die"! There are no ICE or hybrid possibilities for a name like "Tesla". They're 100% in.

it's baffling how some things they get right and others completely wrong.
The left& right indicator buttons actually placing them...left and right is SO OBVIOUS yet the designers at Tesla couldnt figure it out.
Also, changing gears through the screen, come on now. There are a ton of alternatives to a stalk, look at NIO for an elegant gear selector solution.
Looking forward to the planned EU regulations for actual buttons for basic functionality. Hopefully Tesla comes to their senses in next years update.

If you want to know what separates Teslas from any other EV, or vehicle, it is the light show mentioned here. Yes, it is a bit of a gimmick but can you think of anything else, at any price point, that can do something similar? And it's not only all the lights, it is the tailgate, the windows, the side mirrors.

Tesla removed the indicator stalks to save money but the steering wheel is adjusted via electric motors? Unnecessary, why not make the adjustment mechanical and lets have the stalks back as that is actually a more useful and natural feature.
