Longines
ОтветитьGreat video!
I’d personally go with the following ranking:
1-Rolex
2-Seiko
3-Tudor
4-Longines
5-Grand Seiko
Rolex is the best of everything, but at an earned premium. Seiko is also the best of everything but at a discount. The other three are just middle of the road for what they are: trying (and failing) to be the same level of the Rolex.
You can buy the Rolex? Since when?!
ОтветитьGrand Seiko, Tudor. For the discerning few.
ОтветитьPlease make a video reviewing quartz "true" GMT watches. I'm aware of the GS and the Longines (both cool), but what about affordable beater/tool quartz GMT watches for pilots (actual private pilots) on a budget?
ОтветитьDisagree: The other categories are entirely subjective and mainly entertainment, but the GS is at least a 9 on quality relative to the competition. It has a movement that literally no other company can replicate. It's (AFAIK) the only hand-finished watch in the group. It has an open caseback with a hand-finished movement. Its accuracy is on a different league from the other watches.
ОтветитьYou can see it .. from a scooter! Haha that made my day 😄
ОтветитьI have my seiko ssk001 on my wrist now and I'm smilling to it. Great watch for the price, and, I mean, its a seiko, its nice.
Looking to the other options, as a fan of longines, I will go for the zulu time. For me, the beautiest watch on the market now.
Cheers
Yeah, go buy your Rolex. Because that's what every narcotic crime boss and sex trafficker in Miami wears, literally
ОтветитьMentioned the Glycine, but didn't include?
Ответитьthe Longines is great value and my choice before the Grand Seiko.
ОтветитьGrand Seiko is not all that GRAND.
Bought a brand new Lake Suwa Ref SLGA021 with the Spring Drive in Japan after hearing how great GS was.
It's supposed to have a 5 day power reserve. I got the watch for a family member as a gift thinking this would truly be a watch he could enjoy for years to come.
Never wore or sized the watch. Absolutely brand new from authorized Grand Seiko dealer in Japan. I just opened it up and wound the power reserve to near full and hoped to see it last for up to 5 days. Two days later I go back to see the watch that's in the box and it's stopped running! Now this can't be normal right? Since I don't live in Japan I couldn't go back to the selling dealer. So I went to my local GS dealer in my country and he said this is not normal. He said let us bring it to our Grand Seiko watch repair center to see what they say. 4 days later they tell me oh this is something ONLY Japan can repair and because this model is so new we are not equipped to repair this!
I said so I paid about for a new watch and it has to go back to Japan for about a month or more to get repaired? I requested that Grand Seiko simply replace the unit with a new unit and he said they could not do that. I find this practice to be unethical, poor business sense, and a quick way to lose brand loyalty, of which they have not even yet established yet.
SO basically I have to pay in full, never get any use from the purchase, and it has to go to Japan for repairs for God knows how long.
Not sure Grand Seiko Marketing or Director of Sales would find this remedy to be fair.
Anyways, that's my experience with GS so far and no I won't recommend this brand to anyone. Pretty much at my wits end, if you have any suggestions or recommendations please send them my way.
Thank you for your informative video.
I would go with the Timex Quartz….outstanding…..cheap….does the job..🐒
ОтветитьGreat Video, Personally I love GS SBGM221 GMT. I have The Longines Zulu Time, Tudor Black Bay Pepsi Dial and Seiko SSK 017 yellow Dial. My Favorite One is the GS SBGM221, Then the Tudor Black Bay, Longines was Very Close And Everyday Seiko , Waiting on My Batman Rolex To Arrive. All Great Watch’s. Love them All. LOL
ОтветитьHello, where would you put TAG Heuer Autavia GMT here on your scale? Thanks for answer, nice video!
ОтветитьRolex Pepsi - it’s the one everyone really wants. Missing category is desirability! The secondary market pricing and long AD waitlisting supports that.
ОтветитьBest GMT watch is one that you can afford and available for purchase!
ОтветитьThe new hydroconquest gmt changes all this…
ОтветитьHow can this be a ranking of the best GMT watches when 3 out of 5 of the categories aren’t about, well you know… THE WATCH. There isn’t even a category for movement (or accuracy). If you’re buying a watch to impress people on the street you can pick up a flawless knock of Rolex for a tenth of the price.
ОтветитьStreet cred is such a shite category. If it is not a Rolex or an apple watch people on the street will not know it, but wait they would know Fossil so let’s give 10 for fossil. They wouldn’t know an AP, Patek, Vacheron etc.
ОтветитьAccording to the comments, the Longines Spirit wins
Ответитьfor me everything wins but rolex
Ответить1) The first GMT in history is the Longines Zulù time (1927)
2) You mentioned Glycine but didn't include it
Best GMT is the one you can buy one, so SEIKO/Longines :)
ОтветитьLongines overall wins hands down, and Seiko does not come close to any of the others and is not a true GMT and should not be on this list!!!
Ответитьtudor gets a 6 iconic? how about 3?
ОтветитьFortis F-43 Tripple GMT. And the PC-7 version. It has the same movement as Tudor, Titanium, 200m water resistant… and come from the greatest space watch brand. I think it’s well above these watches.
ОтветитьI think Iconic and Street Credit are the same. A true score card would only have one of those columns. Using that the scores would be closer:
Rolex 33
Tudor 26
GS 25
Longines 31 - no longer tied with Seiko, but in firm 2nd place
Seiko 29
The Best GMT is the Rolex Explorer 2
ОтветитьSomething you failed to mention with Longines heritage is that they were the 1st watch manufacturer to make a duel time zone watch back in about 1908 in a pocket watch for the ottoman empire, then the 1st gmt wristwatch called zulu time because Zulu is phonetic word for zero being 0 latitude back in the 1920's before rolex was a thing, so Longines should have a 10 for heritage.
ОтветитьNot sure about the best but the Breitling Chronomat GMT is the prettiest.
ОтветитьThe Longines and the Tudor were neck and neck for me. The deciding factor between the 39mm Tudor versus the 43mm Longines was that there were some issues regarding the date change over on the Longines that the Tudor does not experience. In the end I went with the Tudor as a daily driver and couldn’t be happier. It flies under the radar and I felt safer traveling with it because it does not grab the attention that my Rolex bluesy does. The thickness of the Tudor is often mentioned and IMO gives the relatively small 39mm some well needed substance and feel.
ОтветитьI would probably buy all 4 watches of the other watches for the same price before I'd shell out the same amount for the Rolex.
ОтветитьLongines Zulu da 39mm unico vero vincitore tra tutti.
Un vero Gmt con cinturino e bracciale ingegnerizzati. Rapporto qualità prezzo imbattibile, tanta storia, bellezza e qualità costruttiva spettacolari.
What do you mean by GMT watch. Are you attempting to equate a Chronograph with GMT. Greenwich Mean Time. Which are technically two separate things. Compared to a chronograph, which looses no more than a second within 30days.
Ответить> You can buy
This wouldn't include the rolex.
The Seiko is the only non true GMT among the watches here.
ОтветитьZulu time is the best of the bunch over all
ОтветитьWhat a bullshit !
ОтветитьThe worst thing about this list is the highest quality watch has the lowest overall score. Lol
ОтветитьI can't see past the Longines. None of the others offers anywhere near the stunning look, quality and absolute value for money.
Did I mention the stunning looks, quality and value for money?
Yes, yes I did; but that's only because it needed repeating.
Rolex value 7!? There's absolutely no question; you are on drugs. 3 or possibly 4 is a much more accurate representation of value.
ОтветитьThe Miyota 9075 is a true GMT and with 3 usable time zones (@ least in my Zelos Mako lll GMT w the blue meteorite dial….oh yeah!) And a $629.00 USD price makes it the best watch I’ve purchased in 2023.
ОтветитьIMO the Explorer 2 gets the win. Better value and not "just another" Sub/GMT.
ОтветитьLongines Spirit Zulu 43mm - will be delivered to me today. Can't wait for the courier! I already own a Longines from the Master Collection series. It is an excellent watch. As soon as I saw the Zulu, I knew I had to have it... it is beautiful. I am not particularly fond of the aesthetics of watches of this type, they seem to me all the same just at different prices.... I feel that the inscription "Longines" on the dial, is particularly elegant and makes this type of watch unique in their case.
ОтветитьRolex: You can't buy it at RRP. Unless you already have one. So you go "secondary" in which case "value retention" in a falling market isn't that good. "If you get offered one at RRP" is exactly that - then you sell it to the guys at Watchfinder. Otherwise, spend your money and get mugged for it, or keep it in the safe and obsess over "my precious" like a horological Gollum.
Tudor: The Rolex/Tudor AD wants you to simp it so you have a chance to be "on the list" for a GMT-II.
GS: When you want to impress yourself, not other people
Longines: All the right bits: COSC, 24-index ceramic bezel, screw down crown, True GMT. Flies under the radar (which means you don't get mugged for it) And (a massive plus point) nobody will ask you "Oi Mate, is that a Wolex?"
Seiko: Hey, it is what it is.
the grand seiko got done so dirty here. it's the best watch on this list imo
Ответитьi give Rolex a 5 for value given the insane price for a not very complicated complication. also, how does Rolex score only one point lower than Longines on history when It has an entire century of heritage on both Rolex and Tudor.
ОтветитьRolex: who gives a fig even if so many morons love it?
Tudor: not bad. Too military, though. Dial not as good as GS.
GS: quality is the only thing that counts, so it wins.
Longine: date at 6 and not 3. Out.
Seiko: cheap but too military and trying to look like Rolex and Tudor. Out.
In this order for me Rolex, Longines, GS, Seiko then Tudor
