Classic Microsoft. Everything is half-baked, buggy, and annoying. That's what happens when you have half-a-dozen separate divisions trying to emulate a cohesive project. It's crazy that they still haven't learned their lesson after all these years.

The irony of a company trying to sell software as a service when they can't even properly service their software...

Honestly windows on arm would be incredible, especially since it would make android emulation MUCH easier and lighter, basically doubling compatible programs

PS. Look at Gambas3.18.for arm dev. I can compile in c and basic and now using my arm assembler, load the asm into a string and point to it....then execute..arm ai in basic. Most powerful high level language I've worked in in my 45years of programming. Needs promo.❤😂jpk

I have 4 7gen woa, 8core and 3 gen8.3 woa.. woa needs 8core. My rk3588 and (s) 4 units just got woa.. I do love the woa but it can not develop using vs and 32b. I'm using Linux and getting full dev capabilities though I wrote my own thumb/32b/65b interwork ide to get my needs. The 32g ram with 512g nvme 8gen3 is an awesome woa device but very poor 32b dev support. I love multi-stack arm asm..stm/ldm and neural core. Rk3588 Linux gives best dev so far. I'll be converting the QC(Qualcomm) units to Linux this week. It will go dual woa/Linux when I can pure 32b asm dev on woa. 🥰🥰🥰🤗The eval guy. Good work.jpk ps. System needs 64b but user modes and user/system mode support 32b. 15 user stacks!!!!!

Don't kid yourself, Microsoft has been messing with Windows on ARM for decades and they still haven't figured out how to make an acceptable user experience. Vague 'exclusivity deals' are an excuse and nothing more.

I have a Windowsphone that still runs good with Win8. 1 for arm.
And i have a windowsphone with Win10 for arm, which ran well, but got hot from the beginning. I think that they installed to much of the cpu and ram consuming bloatware, that we know from our notebooks.
Microsoft is still selling Tablets with theis OS for arm processors.
So: There are Windows OS for arm. Why don't you use one of them? The arm processors are fast and batterysaving as we can see on our android smartphones. But by emulating Windows you give this advantage away.

On slow startups: Try loading the same app again. The first time an X86 or X64 app loads on W11 ARM you will get a delay because it’s running a JIT compiler to create the ARM code blocks. After that initial delay the compiled blocks are cached and it should load much faster the next time. The same goes for major dialogs and functions within apps. First time slow, later faster.

Apple has changed chips more than three times. You had the 6502 in the 8-bit era of like the Apple II, which was considered 'RISC-like'. You had the 68K range that went from the Lisa to the shift to the 'Power PC era' (G3-G5). It went from a purely Motorola designed chip to a primarily IBM designed architecture.

The Power PC chips had integrated functions that previously were discrete prior to that line, so there were a lot of feature changes and they are a different architecture as far as chip families. Then you had Intel range from the original Core chips out through the i-Series and Xeon. (All the same family, generally.) And then you had the M-series, which is derivative of the A series mobile chips.

So basically, 5 different chip families / eras.

All of that aside, the one thing that Apple does that is heads above Microsoft is the Rosetta and Rosetta II software frameworks. The ability to just use your old applications on an otherwise uncooperative piece of hardware is far more important than I think people realize. The thing that kills platforms is lack of software, because developers don't move to platforms without users, and users don't move to platforms without software; and so you get the chicken and egg problem.

Contiguousness of support and platform function is vitally important and it's one thing that Apple gets right that most people probably have no idea about.

I have Windows 19 running ARM on my Samsung Galaxy Book S (Snapdragon 8cx CPU), and it runs perfectly well. I do not know what is wrong with this little thing you are testing, but it is definatly not caused by Windows itself, while I do kind of dislike Windows in general, but the assumptions you make is just not correct the way presented.

If you looking for green / eco friendly energy home server and abile to function as a daily desktop too, go for intel nuc, dont waste time and money trying out these as i would of done.

I am average nerd user had a few bucks to spend on hardware solutions, These ARM64 human centric system (or mini server) will need another 5 years time to catch up with performance / stability / feature-rich enable desktop .... it does not seem to meet my daily needs . but nice to know where Microsoft is going. As Jeff mentioned.. low end intel NUC i3 / 64GB RAM (for example) is way more powerful / energy efficient / functional (to me that is worth the investment), add Game play needs simply get faster NUC i7/i9 generation processor with descent GPU of your choice.

Choosing ARM is a choice that has alternative options. Don't choose ARM and expect the option.

Can you run Windows 11 on an MAC M2? No you can't so why isn't there any videos of Apples lack off afford to make that work?

Recently Dante Alighieri, the 13th century author of The Divine Comedy, has recently returned to the Mortal Realm with an update to "Dante's Inferno". Namely he has added in two new Circles of Hell for those who build devices with internal ethernet over USB and also for forcing the use of 100mbit even in that configuration.
When asked what the second new Circle was for, he simply responded "this was such an egregious travesty that we needed to apply two different Circles of Hell to really torture for all eternity such a hideous and sinful act."
The nature of the punishment in the two new circles? The first one is being forced to use Windows on ARM for eternity, the second is being forced to update and install applications on the same platform with that ethernet. Sinners being tortured in Hell's other Circles looked upon the unfortunate souls consigned to the two new Circles and said "daaaaymn I'm glad I just set fire to a bunch of kids and nuns, I'll stick with being eternally burned alive thanks".

With Cameron based laptops consistently under $150, this mini PC has no place on the market: no user input output devices, more expensive, less performance, less software support. If it can get the market share soon, the project may not have long to live.

Apple got their ARM in shape within a couple of years before the release. Though it is true apple has the closed ecosystem so it requires less effort but with all the existing lower power kiosk platforms working, it is already too late to take that market.

Microsoft is avoiding any ARM progress since a LOOOOOONG time ago, this has nothing to do with 2016 deal:
Back in 1988 I was about 5 years old... but something i will remember all my life was a heated discussion my dad was having with some guy over the phone. Years passed and my dad was telling me some histories, I asked him about that day, and he told me that he was discussing with the CEO of Microsoft Venezuela. My dad was solving a problem of Industrial Espionage at Owens-Illinois and Paveca (both huge recycling companies at venezuela) his plan was to setup an ARM server with some customizations to avoid file copying and other things I can't remember. In that discussion my dad was asking for a corporative test copy of ARM based windows, but widows declined to do so over and over meeting after meeting, and that heated meeting was almost his last chance to mount this ARM server setup he has in mind...

Actually the reason it's on ARM chip is due to lower power consumption gains & heat retention capability. That's why it's developed like that. Feel free to find an alternative competitive gadget.

In short, you can't say that "Windows on ARM is very slow" by using Windows 11 on a very slow and old CPU like Snapdragon 7C Gen 1. You should try a decent ARM based computer CPU like Snapdragon 8C Gen 3. For example you can try Lenovo ThinkPad X13. If you prepare a video for Lenovo ThinkPad X13 or Microsoft Surface Pro 9 5G, and compare it with x64/x86 CPUs, it would be much fairer comparison.

Qualcomm SC7180 (also known as Snapdragon 7C Gen 1) is not a decent CPU, it is a very slow CPU. Its passmark score is 2979, so this CPU is like 2010's entry level CPUs. If you want to compare a decent ARM based desktop CPU with decent x64/x86 computers, you should choose Snapdragon 8C Gen 3.
Snapdragon 8C Gen 3's passmark score is 11671 points, and it is a little slower than Apple M1 CPU (whose passmark score is 14447 points), and a little slower than Ryzen 5 5600U (whose passmark score is 13161 points).
Snapdragon 8C Gen 3 is used on Microsoft's Surface Pro 9 5G, and probably will be used on Microsoft Project Volterra mini PC. Also Lenovo ThinkPad X13 notebook PC uses Snapdragon 8C Gen 3.
