I don't even use my phone in my Sorento lol - I have a USB stick with music on it and that's as far as I've gotten. I don't even use the GPS or any other of its gimmicks

John, after all the desert i have seen in pictures surprised to see green trees and grass.

Spot on about all the safety stuff (warnings etc.) in these new cars. It drives me nuts. Have to turn all of it off. But you're still forced to pay for it all. Plus, I actually think it can be MORE dangerous having all that stuff because it distracts you. But my biggest issue - and I say this as a psychologist - is the anxiety is causes. I spend a lot of my job trying to help people deal with anxiety which evolution has gifted us due to the selection pressure for Type 1 errors over Type 2 errors (or what you referred t as 'false positives'). Evolution doesn't care about our happiness or our not being anxious, all it cares about is survival and reproduction. So we are all descended from the most anxious cave-men. What this means now is that alarms going off all the time is really anxiety provoking. One strategy - which you point out - is to become desensitised to them. And this is invariably what happens because we simply cannot be on alert all the time. Our adrenal glands and cortisol levels can't sustain it. So we learn to tune out. Thus, COMPLETELY DEFEATING THE PURPOSE OF THEM! In other words, these so called 'safety features' cause anxiety without adding safety, but they do add cost. Stupid.

It is frustrating that they pump up the safety rating with unnecessary warnings... but ignore the neighbours kids or drunk relative you may have in the third row with no air bags.

What the other reviewers Don't tell you!

I test drove one of these recently. The "gimmick" car Park feature had sold me. Im 195cm tall, car parks are an awkward place for me.

Im a career truck driver with an accident-free history and these alarms completely ruined the most experience for me.

I was almost sold when I went into the dealership, I left thinking "fuck this, im getting something else."

What about the Tall blokes and gals leg room do they have any. Sorry John you are three foot nothing. So how about leg room Mate ?

We bought a Kia Sorento in February 2021. For the last month we have nothing but problems with the car & the dealership at Robina QLD.
The gearbox jerking when coming to a stop from second to first gear at lights. Also in reverse it’s quite bad. The dealership has admitted to having this issue with a few customers but they somehow say it ok as that’s how a “dual clutch system” works. Wtf!!!!🤷‍♂️

The entertainment system & Apple car play faulty. It goes to a dark blank screen while driving & then nothing works. It happens spastically & the dealership tries to blame it on the cord. 🤦‍♂️.

So this car winning car of the year is obviously based on rubbish assessment.

What I like is the start engine with out been in the car waiting for it to warm up before hitting the road with a cold engine

I drive a kia diesel suv, i do border patrols with it. When patroling at 3 to 5 klm per hour on roads that are up hill, the gear heats up and the gas pedal stops working till the gear cools down. If i drive fast uphill, the gear never heats up. Why does this happen?

In 'Merica we actually only get 4 cylinder engines. I have your "perfect" 2.5 L turbo in the one in my driveway.

I worked at a Hyundai dealer for over 4 years and our used lot was always full of Audis from people trading them in for Hyundai. I personally drive and prefer a Kia over Hyundai.
