Australia is so isolated. Lived here for ages. Spent heaps and never obtained PR. PR is almost impossible to obtain unless you are super highly qualified, persistent and cashed up. The laws constantly change. They want many migrants just to be permanently permanent for cheap labour.

Australian immigration places great importance on the relevance of your occupation to your qualifications. While I'm not aware of your specific bachelor's degree, I do know that you obtained a master's degree in cybersecurity and are currently working in advertising. In one of your videos, you mentioned that the basis for your Canadian PR was your experience in retail. These discrepancies in your qualifications and work experience might be contributing to the challenges you're facing in obtaining PR in Australia. Let's remain hopeful that there will be changes in Australian immigration policies, as it doesn't mean you lack skills. Perhaps your or your partner's work experience in Canada could eventually lead to better work opportunities in Australia or elsewhere. Good luck! 😊

Ankasha,

The decision you are wrestling unnecessarily with is a major no brainer. Unlike most potential migrants, you have been through the settlement move twice—you have taken the risks and done the hard work: you know about the colour of the grass on the other side of the fence. Don't waste what you have learnt. Australia ranks well on the issues of pay and benefits, but if you are planning a long life (I recommend it), there are other issues and you must know what they are.

You are on the cusp of a big decision, one has a time limit that affects not just you, but your kids as well. It's winter in Sydney and I must close the blind because the sun is shining on my screen. I am indoors, not to stay warm, but because it is too bright outside! This is our lot . You have experienced a Canadian winter so you know what this means: you can't just dress for it.

From the perspective of Australia, Canada seems comparatively ungovernable with too many issues such as taxes and health insurance determined at the province level. There may be others. Australian health care is a bit fragmented between responsibility for primary care and hospitals. But with the establishment of the National Cabinet, and improvement on the previous arrangement, the prospects look even better for all the levels of government to work better together. With one province even having a different official language how can federal/provincal relationships be improved in Canada?

Then there is a (boring) hobby of mine: compulsory voting—and an Electoral Commission that works hard to ensure polling places are well-resourced and everyone is strongly encouraged to have a say in major decisions. Since the new government was elected, the failings of the previous one are being exposed so the prospects of a longish term in office are good. While short parliamentary terms have disadvantages, they tend to ensure government activities are under constant surveillance by more people as they will be called to the polls frequently. Compulsory, preferential voting seems a burden to those who do not experience its advantages with Saturday elections usually in summer.

I hope you will not need further convincing. There seem to be many videos of Indians in Canada warning against migrating there. Australia attracts migrants despite making it harder than Canada does. Australia strives for gold.

Why not! You should definitely apply for PR in Australia. I describe it as a person who live/lived in the both countries, I would say there’s a bit easy life in Australia which I always say lol. Money wise mental health wise etc.. compared to Canada. For a long term Australia is better but it would be definitely good to experience living in Canada in my opinion but ofc it depends on what you want in your life.

After five years being away from Australia, I realized what the country Australia provides was amazing like beach, weather, relaxation and so on so I’m moving back. Hope to meet you there mate! 😂🎉❤

I think you moved out just when the points were going to drop and they dropped when everyone said it will continue to go up. I moved in 2015 immediately after my 12th to Melbourne (RMIT Uni) and got my PR in mid-2022 just because I stuck it out there. It is quite clear that you love Australia, and my suggestion to your partner and you is to once again apply as offshore candidates. The last round went as low as 65! Just for the record, I have watched about 6-7 videos of yours just around the time I got my invite and they were amazingly fair, honest and unbiased. Good luck and hoping to catch up with both of you soon :-) Btw, everything you said in this video is bang on! There is no place like Down Under.

I would encourage you to re-apply for Australian PR. I’ve lived in both and found Australia a happier and overall a better governed country . Canada used to be a great place some 10-20 years ago, not anymore…broken health care system, rising crimes, out of control homelessness and drug abuse…you name it!

Hi, just wanted to share some of my personal experiences. Generally speaking Australians are warmer, more direct and louder. Canadians are generally nicer, more refrained and quieter.

Australia has a three-pillar pension system. The first, public pillar, is composed of a means-tested Aged Pension that is financed by general tax revenues and provides basic benefits (some $1,500 per month depending on individual circumstances). The second pillar forms the backbone of the Australian pension system, and is made up of funded individual pension accounts called superannuation where employers are required by law to pay a certain percentage of a worker’s salary into a mutual fund (currently 10.5% as a minimum and rising to 12% by 2025). The third pillar involves individuals contributing to their superannuation funds or to Retirement Savings Accounts (RSAs) out of their after tax income.

Australia has a two tired health care system which comprises both a free public system and a private system which is funded by both public money and private health insurance. Government also subsidises private health insurance premiums and high income earners must purchase private health insurance to avoid paying additional 2% in tax (Medicare Levy Surcharge). Because nearly half of the population has private health insurance, waiting times at public hospitals in Australia are generally shorter than in Canada.
