The foggy ring when IR lighting is on is reflection from front cover glass vs lens. If those are clean there nothing more you can do. And just see how these get after a year of continuous operation..

Literally every security camera sucks. Apple needs to make one. Just put a last gen iPhone lens and sensor in there. Incredible low light performance.

Thank you, which cameras do you prefer? do you have a walk-through set-up of a security system, (wired only, please)? I have Lorex but the recorder stopped working.

Those rings are reflections inside from the actual lens sensor. Light leak, not sealed against the inside to prevent external light from getting in front of the lense.

Not for me. I think Lon TV is the place to go for the licence structure. I remember him briefly going over it in one of his videos.

I'm more impressed by the Omnifixo on the desk :D Great review! I do love my synology nas for particular things but cameras aren't it. I find trying to deal with their licensing is an expensive nightmare.

As Synology user of there nas and has more than few cameras going I would agree I have seen there physical cameras not impressed but their software I love minus the pain in the ass that it is to get a Video clip to be sent to home assistant for an alert. I have heard of folks running synology security station on a docker container on there own server not sure about this but might be worth looking into for some folks..

Gotta give kudos to Synology for sending it to someone that they must know doesn't like "locked down" things, and would get an honest no holds bar review.
