you missed a couple important bits of info here ...amicus also made adaptions of tales from the crypt and the vault of horror in  the  late 60s / early 70s ...and you failed to mention tales from the cryptkeeper , the animated  show  , not  griping just   an fyi thing

Tales From The Crypt was done well leave it alone. Make a new show based on Creepy magazine or DC Comics House Of Mystery (both had many stories and were a copy of the EC style)

Out of the EC run, I love the Old Witch the most. But out of the entire series, the show's Crypt Keeper is my all time favorite

There were many stories not shown on HBO because they were too disgusting, like the guy trapped in the mausoleum who ate his wife's body and died of embalming fluid poisoning.

EC really deserves more recognition. Without them influencing Carpenter, King and Romero we may not have had NOTLD, Halloween etc which led to Firday 13th, Walking Dead, Scream and pretty much all of modern horror.

Old comics were the best

I loved the show. the best of the movies in my opinion was original Tales from the Crypt movie, & Bordello of Blood. Rebooting the series was cancelled.

ahhhh my teen years one of the coolest hours on tv its sad they will not bring it back but we do have a creepshow series so maybe it will come back

I'm actually happy it's not coming back. Redesigned Crypt Keeper looked terrible, not creepy, just ugly.

Currently, modern remakes are not homages but lazy (often politically agenda filled) cash grabs. Maybe in the future when writers can be humble and respectful to past successful material, but right now they are incapable miserable poor excuses for entertainers.

Imagine what Bills father must've thought about his bible comics turning into grueseome and grotesque fun! He surely would've hated it. But good for us!

Hi, I'm a newbie to this channel. Nice videos here. Solid narration, info, thumbnails, graphics. Clearly, work has been put into the presentation.

Have to ask, to sate my curiosity: what's "Udru" from, or is it made up?

Re: the HBO series. I was in my early twenties when HBO debuted this anthology show but we did not have premium cable, so I had to wait to see the show later in reruns on the regular cable TV channels, or via video store rentals (yeah, let's hear it for old school days, LOL). But I have to say that the Crypt Keeper host on that show is one of my favorite things from TV in that era. The wonderful puppetry and the design, and John Kassir's magical vocal work ... it was just delightful stuff to behold. Sure, there were too many groan-worthy puns, but I forgave them because this macabre creature was simply awesome.

I'm also a fan of the British portmanteau movie "Tales from the Crypt" from '72. You've got to love that flaming tangerine colored blood they used in the Santa Claus tale-- so dramatic against the white furnishings. Poor Joan Collins doesn't know that she's in for a deadly Christmas. And I enjoy the Peter Cushing sequence; you just feel so sorry for the man when his neighbor starts to ruin him. But I'm digressing here.

There's actually idiots out there who believe that creep show the Blanton knockoff that they try to say was created an honor of tales of the crypt which clearly it wasn't it was a Blanton knockoff even to their comic books that they produced it came to be a blunt and rip off when you look at the covers with the coloring in the wording in the lettering the movies too Blanton ripoffs tales from the crypt came out in the 1950s as comic books then in the 1960s and seventies as movies then creepshow came out with their movies and comic books in the '80s then tales from the crypt decided to hit them back even harder and created the two iconic and very loved TV series animated and regular of tales of the crypt so for those people out there who think that tails from the crypt ripped off creep show and that creep show predates tales from the crypt you're wrong and you're stupid for believing that because tales from the crypt was created first and predates creepshow.
