I think this is something most people don't think about. I've looked into a bedside safe to have that 1 pistol you shoot best, at an easy reach/access. I was wondering if you consider placing the main/big safe, in a location that you could use it as something to stand behind? Also, are there any drills or techniques you use to practice, to be ready in the event of a home invasion?

Completely disagree about fingerprint safes. Do you know how many times my fingers may be dirty from working in the yard, or could be pruned up from taking a hot bath or long shower, or I had a cut on my finger and the sensor now doesn't recognize it? Pin code safes are best...fast easy and safe.

I love this video I completely agree that if you're using a key sthen you need to get that the key saves are very dangerous. I hate them personally. But that being said I do want to make one thing clear. That there is a difference between mentally unstable and dangerously mentally unstable. And I only know this. Because I am mentally unstable with paranoia and schizophrenia and yet I can shoot. Whatever I want, I was talking gun safety at the age of 10 years old. So I just want everyone to know that there is a difference between unstable and dangerous unstable

Gun safes are where you keep all the "extra" guns. You know, so you can keep track of them all once you have all the "essential" guns in place.

This is why biometric gun safety lock need to be invested and refined. It already exist sort of usable but not so good as pistol variants. Most hilarious that it hated both by shooters AND states and federal government(as long as foreigner can know) which is... Dude, it may be crappy gun with some privacy concerns, but it is potentially You life on bet.

NH resident. Having trouble finding my state specific gun laws in terms of storage, use, and where carrying is allowed. We are a pro gun state but don't want to assume at my own risk. Is there a site or place you go to for state specific laws? I have searched and it seems they make it intentionally hard to find. Thanks for the content and many blessings to your family

As a retired Marine, w/no children, I just leave my safe unlocked, it's easier to lock it prior to an inspection than to unlock it in combat, granted no children and no one knows about my safe that doesn't already have a key /combo

If you're keeping your home defense weapon in the safe with all your other weapons, yes the safe will get you killed. Improving response time is key so ideally your weapon would be on your person or close by - in a quick access safe if you have kids or unauthorized access concerns. The scenario of running from the front of the house to the back of the house before you're ready to defend yourself is a really bad strategy (that will get you killed).

Gun safes are just to keep most of your firearms from being stolen while you’re not home. You’re a fool if you stay in the house with ALL of your guns in the safe. Always keep a gun within arms reach. Or at LEAST readily available in another room. Loaded and chambered with the only thing standing between you and the trigger being a safety switch.

you dont use only one safe. Buy cheaper electronic fast access safes and spread them through the house. A keyed safe is ONLY for your hunting or collection guns.

TBH here in Georgia I've never bothered with a safe (don't have that many at the moment). Hers and my home defense firearm sit right on our nightstands, ready. We go to the range every month or so. People try our locks from time to time, but I sleep like a baby knowing our bedroom door is locked, our guns are clean and well-oiled, and are within arm's reach.

What about combination safes with the keypad? I personally have a keypad on mine, and it takes only a few seconds to open. I feel like it’s adequate, but I am interested in your opinion? I also keep one firearm out for defense use, and just lock the rest updue to small children in the house.

Great demo, advice and points! I believe that fire, water and theft resistant safes should absolutely be used to store your weapons when you are not at home. When you are home only your primary defense weapon should taken out of that safe and preferably kept on your person. If that's not possible or preferred you might consider keeping one or more home defense weapons in strategically located small biometric access safes(s). These safes provide little resistance to fire, water or theft but are very affective at keeping guns from children, friends and other family members - anyone who might be curious but isn't willing to do damage. I have one of these in the family room next to where I sit and a second mounted to my bed. One touch with my finger of choice or a simple 4-digit keypad entry give me instant access to a handgun and a spare magazine. Just don't let the batteries die. If you do you'll have to use a key which, even if kept close, takes a lot longer. My small safes give an audio and visual warning if the batteries are low.

Not necessarily if you got extras they sit on night stand and have a akm 9mm with 50 rd drum mag handly we out of room in safe we not buying another one those three guns should be enougb to get us to safe where most the guns are loaded which I have about 8 more handguns In there loaded and my ar15 with three mags and if that don’t work my ar15 has a m7 Vietnam bayonet on. It not to mention shotguns and 22 rifles and hunting rifles etc also wife always has her two out with her too I carry a Glock 36 45 acp cause it was good enough for my dad during the war and perfect for me and I carry a pocket 25 always around with me In the house I rather have a safe than a regular gun cabinet with the glass on door that asking for someone o break it and get your shit .

The reason I don’t like electronic safes is that batteries fail and circuit boards fail. When the circuit board fails, you will probably have to destroy the safe to get your gun out. As for biometric safes, sometimes they have trouble reading your print, sometimes your hand will be wet, dirty, or bloody, if you get a scar across your thumbprint and don’t reprogram the safe, you might not be able to get in etc. There are just too many problems. I keep a firearm handy and the EXTRAS are in the safe.

I’m telling u to disobey ur state laws. U should have 2 safes. 1 that’s Fire, Water, and maybe even emp proof for ur valuables, documents, and some electronic gear. 1 for ur more valuable firearms to b stored in and protected. The disobedience come into play by always keeping at least 1 or 2 guns very accessible and loaded

Gun safes are incredibly useful for unused guns and spare ammunition. I see absolutelt no reason not to use a reliable safe for this purpose.

However, when it comes to self-defense, you should have your gun stored somewhere that is easily accessible to you.
