The problem with history is as its mostly written by europeans who follow arbrahamic faith they think the world is only as old as their faith system and fail to acknowledge everything which are older than 3000 to 5000 years. I believe it was built by the lost Ararat civilization. There is plenty of evidence if you know where to look. The real worldwide megalithic mystery is why the hell anyone listens to Graham Hancock. He's an unqualified charlatan whose theories have been disproven time and again.

I bet that those scallops were from the "feet" of ultrasound devises, that were applied onto the stones in order to make them vibrate. They were able to find frequencies, where the stones would essentially grind themselves into a perfect fit. Same technology would be used to move them around and also to cut them. All of this has been demonstrated to work (on a small scale). The dimples often seen were used as contact points for the ultrasound devices and had the purpose of avoiding ending up with these scallops/divots. Note how the scallops are nearly always near a joint. Dimples not worn down were probably left protruding as status symbols "look how we were able to fit these megaliths perfectly without even grinding down our dimples". My last theory is that the Egyptian 'djed' was one such ultrasound device or perhaps just the local folklore of what ultrasound device looked like in previous civilizations, unable to make it work themselves.
