Wow! All that took place in NYC??? I lived in Fla until 79' so there was a lot I would learn later about these shows settings. But that whole bowling thing was hilarious. And the hotdog skit, typical NY'ites with that NY accent.

I loved this show growing up. The stuff they came up with to prank people are ahead of it's time. But it was odd that some people were always fooled. One of my favorite episodes was the phone prank. Basically, people would answer the phone and talk to the guy on the other line. Then he would sneeze and all this water would come through the phone. Now as a kid I knew this couldn't happen, but I couldn't believe that people were falling for this. It got to the point that it literally changed my thought process, that it could happen. There was one woman who literally told the guy on the other side of the line that he needed to take care of himself. People were annoyed that the water coming through the phone was saliva from sneezing. But the episode I wanted to see was the kids blowing the cake off the table.

not only a fun show but a great social experiment, and so cool to see people from yesteryear, the clothes, the attitudes... i'm guessing this is the early to mid 1970's when the co-host mentions "high labor leading to self-service". this was about the time corporations began their coup on the media, economy and politicians. about the time the right-wing conservatives declared war on working people, unions, and labor wages, the corporate media (run by millionaires) were more than happy to push the false narrative that it was high labor that caused stagnant economic growth...

then reagan was elected and working people have been getting screwed ever since. don't believe me? the minimum wage in 2022 is $7.25, if it had kept pace with inflation since the 1960's it would be close to $20/hr today. most working people in america are working for poverty wages in 2022.
