That's literally the sole reason he was in the job, and it's a matter of record that he went to great lengths to protect the President's criminality - solely in order to protect his own position of installing judges. To this day he is still fighting subpoenas in court and refusing to appear before Congress Just like the Generals, the Financiers, the (so-called) christians - all sold their souls knowing exactly what type of man Trump is, but went through any required contortion to justify their appalling hypocrisy.

I'm on Act Three of Michael Schmidt's book. Truly amazing research, interviews, direct quotes from those involved, WH memos, etc. IOW, Schmidt's book of putting all the facts together in such a way that he tells the story, almost day by day, of the players involved, who said what, and shows us how unorganized, unplanned, and undisciplined this Administration was after Inauguration Day Jan 2017. It's not an easy read due to me not knowing the many govt officials named, and the level of great detail placed in summarizing the events. I highly recommend reading Michael Schmidt's book.
