were you born in 1976?
Ответитьif the television of a computer is called monitor, then why do you keep calling monitors to the speaker cabinets? go ahead and call too monitors to the forks, to the chairs, to the lettuces.
Ответитьvery refreshing to hear of an honest, expensive, difficult journey to a great result. People should know what they're getting themselves into ha
ОтветитьHello folks and poster you made me think. I spy the new speaker ATC has with an nine inch driver same fantastic 3" midrange and new tweeter. As you said your woofers start and stop fast the above will do it faster at the cost of a voice coil maybe.
Not everybody has big full range tower speakers very few. There migth by some trade offs. Who knows trail and error as we all do make an boo boo or was to excited like a puppy as you came home puppy was so happy to see you. Wet the floor. We all wine but a puppy will stop after a few weeks. I glad you did to. How can you fix it if you do not know just what your up against. Find out first-time best advice anf thank you very much for sharing be handing out one of the best free gifts thats so rarely ever offer towards your own personal interests and your passion ❤

What about a beamer and something like an „acoustic-canvas“? 🤷♂️😊
ОтветитьThanks a lot and a lot to learn as a beginner😮💨
ОтветитьAwesome video! For real! Great, real-world experience and knowledge was shared. Thank you. A request, if I may ask: could you please provide a couple good songs that helped you confirm your room, LP, and speaker placement? Starting off with a known, great mix/master you can have confidence in, right off the bat, could indeed be helpful. TiA!
ОтветитьWell done, an adder on how best to hook to a wall or ceiling. 2 vs 4 inch etc. Thx fr this
Ответить❤loved it❤
ОтветитьWow this is really good, thanks for sharing
ОтветитьSorry you’re wrong about “if they like your music, nobody cares how you’re room looks anyways”. If you’re bringing people over to do sessions with you, presentation is absolutely important. The first impression they get of your room will determine the vibe of the session from start to finish. If you have a nice ambient environment with an aesthetically pleasing setup and acoustic treatment, it makes all the difference in the world. They will definitely want to return, and you won’t have to sweat bullets because you’re studio looks like garbage. Not all home studios are solely for the owner of the “home”…
ОтветитьThanks! This was fantastic!
ОтветитьThe rum, lol.
ОтветитьAs soon as the words " soundproof your room" come out of your mouth, it tells me that you don't understand the physics of treating a room. Video ended for me during the first minute
ОтветитьHelo I really need help with my system. I mix sound at a church. During sound check things are okay with the whole worship team but later on bass sounds much that singers don't hear themselves, how do I fix that???
ОтветитьWhat about painting the wall appropriately and using a laser protector to get that large screen. Some of the newer ones look bright even with lots of lighting in the room.
ОтветитьMy speakers are near field, and my subs are even nearer, and their cones are at tweeter level, way off the ground. Smoothest bass ever.
ОтветитьI respect your frustration. I’ve learned a lot from this video. Thank you
ОтветитьI thought my bandmate had bought awful monitors for our practice / demo recording space as there was no low end to speak of until I got up and walked around the room and realized it was a cancellation issue as the bass came back when standing off to the side. I still had my doubts about his used monitors, so I brought a set over I was very familiar with and when placed on the desk area where the computer is I was mortified at how bad they sounded haha. I think I will show him this video since he was surprised that you can't just set some speakers anywhere in a room and expect them to sound good!
ОтветитьWhen you first started talking about soundproofing I thought “Oh boy, another one who doesn’t know the difference between isolation and treatment…” I was pleasantly surprised, great video!
ОтветитьThank you for this! It has given a good rationale for why there is a huge dip at 100hz in my room. I hadn't considered cancellation caused by reflection from the wall behind the speakers.
Might not be the problem, but I feel happier about moving stuff around now knowing what a possible cause could be.
Just came back to this video in preparation of moving my mix studio into a different house. This video is a real gem. You guys have a terrific channel.
ОтветитьGraet explanation. Thank you.
ОтветитьReal world nuggets!!!
ОтветитьCase in point is my local symphony hall…The Kimmel Center in Philadelphia. Very elaborately engineered and hugely expensive…the sound is 🫤 meh.
ОтветитьThis is BY FAR the most accurate and helpful video I have found on this subject. Your passion and professionalism shines through and is clear to see. Greatly appreciated and I wish I’d started here as I’ve wasted a lot of time and energy. Kudos and thank you 🙏🏼
ОтветитьVery thought out and easy to undestrand. Just one question: where do I place my Subwoofer? I use 2 Yamaha Hs80m and the Yamaha HS10W Subwoofer.
ОтветитьI just saw this video earlier this evening. I am a determined audiophile and have been serious about music reproduction for many year but still struggling to get my room acoustics right. I happened to see another video about why to set speakers close to the wall from GIK Acoustics, explaining how that moving them away from the wall can creat a phase problem with the sound bouncing back and being out of phase at the time it hits your ears and then I saw this video. I use vintage Yamaha 3 way studio monitors . I removed all acoustic treatment on the front wall placed the speakers in the corner against the wall, located the best listening position and bam it was exactly what I thought was possible in my rooom . It has saved me a lot of money I was going to spend on more room treatment. Your exactly correct sometimes what is the accepted way and expected way is not always the best. THANKS SO MUCH.
ОтветитьThank you so much for diving deep through this step by step in order. Fantastic. Brilliant.
ОтветитьHi, I just wonder how I should mount panels on the top when my desk and monitors are already set?
ОтветитьGood video this is what i do when setting up a mix. Dont be afraid of moving around the room and move the desk with you
ОтветитьGreat video. Just 2 questions if you don't mind, is there any good videos on how to do an acoustic analysis of your room and how that dictates panel position. But also do panels need to be so deep, could you make 120 mm, I need to hang them, just thinking of weight. Obviously with the smaller panel you'll lose some effectiveness but does anyone know, is it still worth doing?
ОтветитьI know I shouldn't be but after this clip I'm now very discouraged and sad. I think I'll need a glass of whisky to lift up my spirits again and don't think about my room sound (or rather, the lack of a proper room sound) for a moment or two. Cheers.
ОтветитьExcellent advice, thank you 🙏
ОтветитьMost important video
ОтветитьFantastic video, thank you!
ОтветитьI have a enforced concrete wall on the left side and plasterboard on the right. Should I start with the left or right speaker?
ОтветитьIn my studio I use the basic approach of very nearfield monitoring (1.0 to 1.4 meters)from my three pairs of Neumann monitors and one Neumann subwoofer with one of the pair. All are in an equlateral triangle configuration(1.0 to 1.4 meters). I also have a large control room - 6 meters x 13 meters. Treating the room to control low freqencies is critical. Standing waves have to be killed.
ОтветитьTerrific advice. Well produced video with organized presentation and wonderful presenter.
ОтветитьFuck dogma
Ответитьlovely video , cheers
ОтветитьGreat content, thank you! I have an odd room setup that I am nearing the measuring stage. Rectangular-ish, one corner is 1m deeper though making it non symetrical. The ceiling also pitches up toward that same side by about 30-40 cm. All in all about 9m long by 6m wide by 3.5m tall. I am sharing the space wih my wife, who is a textile hoarder (designer), so I built a giant diffuser for the middle of the room that holds about 1 metric ton of fabric on the rear of it to both dampen itself and the room somewhat. Then the corners on my side also hold the rest of the rolls of fabric on 3 tiered, triangular shelving. About 30-40 each. Then I received a ton of acoustic absorbers from another studio. 2x4 feet by 6inches as well as 2inches and then 14 half cylinder absorbers/diffusers. Gonna be interesting.....maybe a little frustrating....
ОтветитьGreat video. I’m about to complete a basement for my listening room. If I do this test with my old speakers for optimal placement and then upgrade the speakers is everything going to be thrown off? Assuming it’s best to buy the new speakers now and test properly and then figure out how to complete the room. Thanks.
ОтветитьGreat presentation. Lots of Gold. Thank you Sir
Ответитьgreat video
Ответитьnow thats interesting - any specific reason why bass worked so much better in the middle of the room rather than the recommenced 2 thirds position? Like the walls are made of softer stuff at one end, or the room tapers?

And oh wow those ATC's ...!
Most ignored element is the actual engineer himself. We all perceive sound differently.
ОтветитьDang. This makes me just want to get some nice open-back headphones and give up on acoustics for now. Wow. Darn.
