Destiny 2: The Witch Queen - Season 19 Ending Cinematic

The fact that this is arguable the best story destiny ever told makes me absolutely livid because it's then followed up by the worst story destiny has ever told.

This was the best end of a season for a long time if not ever. It was because Bungie added emotional weight to the characters and their decisions. Rasputin, after rejoining with Felwinter, realized the error of his ways and through that and his calculations realized the only way to save humanity was to die and he gave that task to Anna Bray, the person who was essentially his mother. So the end of the season was a heroes journey. Rasputin knew he had to die and was willing to make the sacrifice to save humanity but, essentially, his mother had to kill him. This was GREAT storytelling. It is so sad that Bungie can only do this once a year.

Still odd that the Witness would have the chance that Eramus succeeded in destroying the traveler which would potentially ruin his plan for the final shape. Instead he took the chance knowing we would destroy our last defense in Rasputin, drawing the traveler out into space for an easier target. He has been playing the long game in this chess battle for the universe. He has played the good guy toward all major characters but the reason they have struggled. He is the reason the traveler left the Fallen, why the Hive got their worms, and why the planet earth got the Guardians .

I wonder if the witness has some deeper involvement into what Ghosts are. Ghosts are apparitions of the dead. Ghosts may actually be one of the Beings that eventually combined into the witness, hence why he controlled our Ghost. The Veil being linked to consciousness of the universe it could be that the Ghost are linked to both the Veil and the traveler. And potentially could be more linked to the Veil than we think.

Where was this level of writing in the entirety of the lightfall year so far?

Why did the Witness want Eramis to destroy the Traveller, when seemingly they need both the traveller and the veil do make the space triangle?

Last good story bit before Lightfall, the destiny cover art resemblence is not simply a neat reference but it symbolises how D2 story would look like from this moment on.

Arguably the best seasonal story being immediately followed by the worst expansion story is just the perfect summary of the Destiny Franchise as a whole.

Shame that Lightfall flopped so hard, this was the best set up for the end there has ever been.

I love how one person in the back just raises both eyebrows, like they fully expected the traveler to piss off and got surprised when it just stopped lol

After seeing the new Cutscene about the Witness, it makes sense why it targeted Eramis. Another race betrayed by the traveler like itself

This and the lightfall cutscene were peak destiny story, LITERAL PERFECTION, shame lightfall was ass

From the future. Witch Queen and this season's ending was the peak in Destiny's story telling. It has all been downhill from here and not in a good way. Light hasn't fallen. It has fizzled into a fart.

No matter how many times I watch this, I love how they have Caiatl so far in the background because of how small Saladin is.

When you see the warsats lights from the ground, it looked like a "War in heaven" and am I the only one that looks at the orbiting traveler and think of a well of light below it? Doesn't it look like a Warlocks well?

How did we go from this masterpiece, to "ThE BiGgeR ThEy ARe, THe HArDeR tHeY fAlL."

Why was this cutscene better than all of lightfall 😭

God that final shot of the traveler over the earth doing a full loop to the beginning, i love it sm

In another time this cutscene leading into the original plan of Lightfall being the end of the current saga would have been so satisfying

Now that lightfall is here I'm so very curious as to what the ending cinematic is for lightfall to introduce the final shape

In all seriousness, being a Dark Below Destiny 1 vet this cutscene brought so much emotion to me

Every time I see this cutscene I just get even more disappointed with how bad lightfall’s story ended up being.

It was all planned. The witness new about the defenses or the warsats that is. The warsats were the only thing that really could've stood a chance against the black fleet and he needed that removed. So he used eramis's hatred towards the traveler as a distraction to force the unplug of rasputin. Now with the warsats gone we are left in the open

It’s so painful to get this amazing piece of storytelling just to have it be immediately followed by the dog turd that is the writing in both Lightfall and Defiance. It’s just hard to keep getting this narrative whiplash.

Why did ana pull the plug on rasputin?

Wow the moment Abbhorrent imperative is taken down the Traveler runs!

Does anyone know the soundtrack name for when Anna pulls the plug on Rasputin?

I just realized they both turned with the same hand. I am literally screaming right now....

Incredible season, grindy but fun gameplay, great music, amazing cutscenes... some of the best months of destiny I ever experienced. Lightfall we get a 5 week filler story we barely understand. :(

You will be missed Rasputin... And your warmind cells were everything to me 😭

And after this point, the ball was dropped. And oh boy it fell big :/

I’m sad that Rasputin died thinking we didn’t need a Warmind; didn’t need him. I didn’t like the whole “cause you have friendship” angle either for him justifying the loss of a Warmind.

A character that Bungie wrote themselves into a corner with and decided to take the easy way so end him; taking the rest of Warmind lore with him.

Contract this with the fact that Eramis is still around when she is one of the worst characters ever.

Everyone is talking about this cutscene imitating the d1 cover art, but no one is talking about how Eido pointing to the traveller mimics Eramis in the Whirlwind cutscene.

How'd we go from this to Lightfall man...

God talk about tonal whiplash going from this to Nimbus screeching sports announcer gags in vapourwave ghost town.

Crow at the end throwing up his hood and leaving was just like "oh my- I thought the traveler was leaving- screw this i'm going back. Thanks for wasting my time!"
